Hello to anyone who reads my post.
I, like many others, was experiencing error code Zebra before the latest patch, and now I am experiencing error code Banjo.
Unlike MANY other gamers experiencing errors who can at least play Destiny for short amounts of time, I cannot even move past the sign in screen when I launch Destiny. I press "A" on my Xbox One remote and am greeted with error code banjo after. This limitation, so to speak, has been ongoing for over a month now.
I do not want to waste anyone's time here. I have taken the time for MULTIPLE weekends in a row to conduct in depth research on my given error code, Xbox One troubleshooting, and troubleshooting for my router and modem.
If, by chance, any Bungie representatives see this post, let me inform you of the steps I have already taken, so we can eliminate basic trouble shooting and get to more detailed solutions; as I have said, I have done a fair amount of research independently.
To begin,
I use a Hughes Net HT1100 modem (I have to resort to Satellite Internet due to my location) and a Netgear WNRv4000 Router. I have Destiny on an Xbox One, and I use a wireless connection for my Xbox One. Before anyone says anything, I am well aware already that Satellite Internet is bad news for "fraction of a second" online gameplay, like Destiny, Battlefield, etc. That is not the problem.
What I am confused on is that, about a month and half ago (give or take), I WAS able to play Destiny's SINGLEPLAYER. No, I was not able to see any other players on maps or in the Tower, but everything else in the game worked fine, and the main point was I could AT LEAST play singleplayer (which I was more than content with, I love the campaign).
NOW, however, I am greeted with an error code at the launch screen for Destiny, and I cannot even play singleplayer, as aforementioned.
I do not understand what has happened here.
Steps I have already tried:
(#1). My Xbox One is on the correct power mode (I know Energy Saving mode messes with networking for some crazy reason).
(#2). I have power cycled my equipment COUNTLESS times.
(#3). I have ran BOTH networking tests on the Xbox One. As it turns out, I am one of the very rare gamers who experiences the unheard of "Can't finish multiplayer test. . . " message when I run the Multiplayer Test on the Xbox One. I also would have nothing listed under Upload Speed or MTU. Microsoft has no troubleshooting for this message on their website. As it turns out, I have found out why, which leads me to #4.
(#4). I have a Hughes Net HT1100 modem, as aforementioned. TO ANYONE USING THIS MODEM, PAY CAREFUL ATTENTION. There is a feature on this modem called "Web Acceleration". As it turns out, this screws up networking for the Xbox One. If you disable it, as I have, then when you again run a Multiplayer Test on the Xbox One, NOW you can finish the Multiplayer Test, and the missing results will appear.
(#5). I have opened my router settings and conducted investigations. I DO have UPnP on my router, and it does not list all the ports the Xbox One uses (according to your website and Microsoft) when I view UPnP while my Xbox One is running. Often times, the detailed statistics page from the Multiplayer Test will tell me I have a "UPnP port restricted NAT". Needless to say, I have disabled this feature time and again.
(#6 & #7). The detailed statistics page gives me varying results for my NAT. This is not unheard of. Of course, I have undertaken the basic step of forwarding the necessary ports to my Xbox One, of course creating a static IP for the Xbox, etc. I even tried Port Triggering as well, just for the heck of it. And yes, before anyone asks, I did this WITH UPnP disabled, as I understand UPnP would create a problem if it was left on while the ports were forwarded.
*** NOTE MY NEXT STEP ***
(#8). I am aware of the existence of Double NAT or CGNAT (Carrier Grade NAT). I am beginning to think I am in this category or something similar to it. After researching many forums and various websites on the Hughes Net HT1100, I am still unsure if it is complicating the NAT. This would seem a logical explanation, because my NAT continually varies on the Multiplayer Test on the Xbox One, and port forwarding has in NO WAY WHATSOEVER helped the situation. I am unsure if port forwarding is impossible for me, because I am unsure if the HT1100 is still blocking the ports or not.
As I said, I am still slightly confused, to a degree, by the Hughes Net forums I've read.
(#9). NO, I have not tried a wired connection to my networking equipment. Unfortunately, I cannot move my networking equipment to where my Xbox is in my house, or vice versa (bummer).
*** THE MAIN POINT: I ONCE could play singleplayer, but now I cannot. ***
Please, if you read this post, (1) Thank you for doing so (2) Comment in some way if you have any further guidance.
Bungie:
I have long been a Halo player, and I absolutely love Destiny. You guys did great with the game. You all have obvious talent. Please, respond to my post. I have undertaken much research alone, and I have a unique and unusual networking situation. Your trouble shooting is more unlikely to help me compared to most other gamers.
I have recalled all attempted solutions to the best of my knowledge.
It would not hurt for you to refer others on your website to my post, other gamers who use Hughes Net or Netgear. It has taken me QUITE a while to figure this all out alone, especially concerning (#4). I want to prevent others from having to do this grudging research.
If you have been logging my activities, yes I have played Destiny recently. . . On OTHER networks, such as a relative's house. It is by no means an everyday enjoyment, however.
Thank you for your continued effort. Please help me fix this.

hey man I see you have no posts. but I do want you to know that I also have Hughesnet HT1100 with a netgear 3700v3 router and at that exact same time I also could not play destiny. as you said I was also sent to tech support today and he remotely turned off web acceleration ( hope Hughes paid for yours like they did mine ) and I am now at error code banjo after TS fixed my upload speed and MTU. I will read your other steps as our situation is 99% similar and eliminate things and maybe one of us can find the solution. please keep in touch. or if you already have found the answer please let me know... saw this and wanted you to know at least one other player has the same issue :) also yes matchmaking would time out but we could play ( friend and I ). thank you for being so detailed... I'll be waiting for your reply
