I'd love to see the exact thread that started the transition from casual to hardcore gaming attitudes, the amount of butthurt from that thread alone could power New York City for weeks.
Why does having a casualistic gaming style matter? What does you not buying your gear give you to make you so much more of an elitist than everyone else? Oh, and these questions aren't just aimed at you, but everyone on these forums who actually thinks it's okay to redicule any player who piles up his coins, and buys gear. How dare you use your resources, shame on you.
Seriously, what's the hurt in buying from Xûr? Does it affect you in any way? Now, I understand the perspective of being upset because someone bought something you randomly got... Wait what? You had no inclination as to how you would get said exotic piece of gear. You had no idea that it would drop. So saying that you of all people earned it, and that someone who purchases it doesn't, when you were basically just handed it for free... It abuses your already highly established sense of entitlement.
I gained my Universal Remote through the RNG system, and I would love if other players could have half as much luck as I did at the moment I got it... I did the Archon Priest strike for probably the third time that day; and poof. There it was. I freaked out. I freaked out, my strike mates freaked out, and I'm sure my dog freaked out watching me freak out.
Now my Sunbreakers, I bought them from Xûr. At the moment of it's purchase, i had been saving up coins for about four weeks... Which sounds pathetic in hindsight now that I get them so easily, but I didn't know as much then as I do now (as in don't rely on crucible for gear. That's very bad. Don't do it.). These Sunbreakers gave me a subtle boost for me to get to level 24 so I could do the Tiger Strikes... In the matter of three days, I leveled up four times. I'm stoked.
I am the definition of a casual gamer. I play on the weekends, I have a social life, I take my love life into account before I do my Exo's. Being this casual gamer, I would have been grinding for what seems like ages before I could even be able to do damage in the nightfall strike.
Oh woe is me when someone gets what I have though. How dare Xûr even think about handing out my Universal Remote, I EARNED it!!! Let's be real, I didn't. I was lucky. I in no way influenced the probability of that drop, so how am I entitled to the sense of perfectionism that states that anyone who doesn't get it randomly is a Filthy Casual.
If you wish to bash on us for being a Casual player, then I pray that you find something in your life that's worth merit... Because taking this much of a narcissistic and all imposing stance in a video game is sad.
Edit: before people make fun of me for "falling for the troll", being sarcastic does not mean you're not taking a stand. So unless you're willing to use some brain cells in my subthread, I won't be acknowledging you.
