I think the economy in this game is messing up people's brains. If this were a Halo title, I'd be long past the campaign, and would be playing the hell out of multiplayer for purely cosmetic rewards. This one actually has an endgame with progression. I wouldn't expect drops or rewards or whatever. But because this game has cool rewards that actually do stuff, the need for instant gratification kicks in and people go crazy. I've heard people yell and swear because it's their second, third, fourth time doing an activity and they "only" got experience, gear perk experience, gear upgrade materials, faction points towards rewards, etc. and not just an exotic handed to them.
If you play this game right, everything you do contributes to slowly moving forward towards the stuff you want. It took me forever to get certain items, but once I got them it was awesome.
