Love this post. As I read it, it just felt so true to my play style.
I notice a lot of players using autos or cannons but rarely both. I enjoy using every gun type in destiny, hand cannons are probably my favorite, but one of the things I enjoyed about halo was picking up a strange gun because you were out of ammo. It was so awesome to use every type of gun and learn how to use all of them to your advantage. Destiny is no different except you have to manually equip them and all your guns are available at any time.
Finding new places to explore (glitches or not), finding the perfect routes for farming materials, finding new ways to surpass your best in last week's raid - I love this game and even though I have all 3 classes, I am and will always be a hunter.

I didn't like Auto Rifles but RNGezus bestowed unto me two Suros Regimes and Two Atheon's Epilogues. I couldn't just shard them so I used them. I also play as all three classes. Though I haven't really had time to focus on the Titan yet.

Hard light dropped for me a while back and it's a beautiful auto. I prefer it over suros, but they are both nice guns. So far the only gun in lacking in is the pulse rifle. I think it's because I expect it to perform like the BR in halo and it bugs me then it doesn't. I've been using the pulse that drops from VoG and red death trying to overcome that dislike. Everything else from hmg's & rockets to fusion rifles, snipers, & shotguns - I love them all
