I wouldn't shoot the hobs in the mars portal, because they will do the solar thing and the relic holder can't hurt them, plus if the relic holder is level 30 he can one shot slam them. But thats not for me to say how your team does it, thats just how my team does it.

Yeah, it depends on the relic holder. Sometimes we will just shoot the hobgoblin who is not close to the other two so that the relic holder doesn't get blasted by him while taking out the other two. As long as they are together, then one blast will take them all down, so we just play it by ear.

sometimes on hard mode its good to shoot a hob or two so the relic holder doesn't get popped on his way down

Pretty much. Two of them shoot and you are toast. I always skirt along the right side when I have the relic on hard.
