It seems strange to me that anytime Deej is asked about the state of the game...he always comes back with the same canned response about how many hours people have poured into the game.
its always the same "well based on how much people are playing...id say we're doing great!" kind of statement..
But that doesnt really mean anything....nothing at all...it only means that people believed (and some still believe) all the hype around this game...the hype that Bungie manufactured...
Bungie...i promise you...majority of the people still playing are GRINDING....and it has truly become a grind...it is more work than fun at this point....
The only reason people are still pouring in the hours is because they HOPE that bungie will finally deliver the game they promised us for years...and when (if) that time comes, they dont want to have fallen behind... that is the ONLY reason people are still playing...
How many times did they think we would want to do the same missions over and over with the same modifiers?
Especially the Xbox folks who only have 70% of the actual game content to play...
Boring is an understatement....
I've noticed in the past 5-10 days that nearly all of my friends have quit Destiny... the last 2 days I've signed on and not a single person is on....everyone has regressed back to Madden or FIFA or COD or anything that ISNT Destiny...
I feel like this Dark Below is just another way for them to manufacture hype....i strongly suggest NOT buying the DLC until you know exactly what you are getting...and if you plan on continuing to circle the same 5 caves for relic iron for hours on end...
I just dont understand how Bungie isnt saying that their game is in a dire situation...
They've applied band-aids to a few small issues...but have yet to even mention a fix with any actual substance...
I've just about had enough of Bungie....I thought for some reason they were the best game -makers out there...i've completely lost that mind-frame....i now think they're just money hungry half-ass game designers like everyone else on the market...you've really lowered your bar bungie... its really sad...its insulting to your fans. Its even more insulting to keep boasting about how great your game is...and how much ppl play it....when the ppl playing it are on the verge of giving up....
act quickly bunige....MCC coming soon!
Personally, i think 11/11 will mark the end of my mind numbingly repetitive days in the universe that is Destiny.
(EDIT: MCC was the biggest flop of any game in the history of gaming...halo 5 beta though....cant come fast enough)
Prove to me that i want (70% of) this DLC bungie....prove to me that your game isnt dying....Spoiler (it is)

Tl:dr beyond first sentence. This game is like crack cocaine. Don't want "it" but neeeeeed it. "It" is what ever you want it to be. Personally I love this game and play it tonnes, but it meets none of my expectations. Bungee have a tough job ahead of them.

Because the fact is, destiny is addicting. No matter how much you hate it. What other game is there for consoles that's fps with rpg/mmo elements like this one? None. I stopped putting hours into the game but I still play it because I personally hyped this game up for myself. I know it will become what it was meant to be if bungie listens to us. People over game on destiny. Chasing the carrot. Hoping for that one exotic that just won't drop. Waiting for each Tuesday so they can try again... And again.... And again.. Every week. That's why deej says what he says. The destiny loot system has these rules in my opinion: 1. If a player wants something, don't reward it right away. Make them play for it. Make them invest those hours. 2. If a player isn't doing as well as the rest of his team, crucible wise, give him a chance at better rewards because he needs it to get good. 3. If a player doesn't get what he wants after putting in hours, and takes time away from destiny to do other things... When said player returns to destiny, reward him with any random exotic piece of weaponry or armor to make him feel inclined to chase the carrot again.

Because the game is a huge success and some people are quitting, but new players are joining every day. Also, everyone on here that posts how they quit playing...they have all played within a few days of their "I quit" post. The numbers show that millions of people play daily. So how could such an awful and terrible game be doing so well?? I don't know honestly, but I actually enjoy destiny. It's not everything it could be, but it's pretty fun for what it is. I however don't understand how people with 1,000+ hours are still playing, I know I wouldn't be.

The insane amount of money they made makes the game successful.
-
They think it's doing so well because they're making money and money is all they care about
-
I started playing late January, although i still have a few things to concur, i can already see the repetitiveness. Also, 200 vangaurd marks, that's the cap? What so i spend them on now? New sparrow?

Cant exactly say in media release "Players are dropping like flies, xmas was a bump but, its getting lonely online"
-
Wow this is still relevant three months later. Ohhh destiny. You sure are the best casino sim out there.
-
Yeah the games becoming a chore to play. I find myself 'having' to do night fall or raids instead of 'wanting' to do them. I can hardly find a reason to play I sometimes just stare at orbit screen then say 'what the fk do I do'.
-
I've put a lot of hours in, don't get me wrong, but about half of my time is from me being afk while I play TERA or PSO2 on my PC...hope Bungie sees through the fog. I'd hate to see them sink any lower in the eyes of the players.

PS4 user here..looking forward to the DLC..Btw this game is dope. I think the majority of the complainers are people who play this game too much and need to mix it up. This so called "GRINDING" for the fear of "FALLING BEHIND" is absurd. Falling behind what? This isn't a freaking race. People will do the exact same thing when Advanced Warfare comes out. Put in 12-15 hours a day easy (like anybody gives a crap about your rank) and then get burnt out because it's the same pay and spray BS our spoiled a$$es are accustom to. THESE ARE VIDEO GAMES PEOPLE, NOT LIFE!! Quit complaining about your lousy $60. Big eff'n deal. I drop 60 bucks on a weekend dinner with the wife and have to listen to her gripe about the moron that just ruined my evening by overcooking her steak! LoL. Kudos to Bungie. This is a great app and a helpful tool that's been plagued by people who simply can't be satisfied by anything. I'm done

I am disappointed with Bungie but don't completely agree with the OP. First off, I play both PS and XB, I think each system has it's pro's and cons. That said, I did start out with the original Xbox and Halo on that system's launch day. At that time Bungie was relatively unknown and experienced massive success almost overnight. Halo was revolutionary and Bungie's reputation is well deserved. That said, when we all learned that they were developing a new game, especially considering the hype, we all expected Bungie to deliver a Halo level experience. They have not done that. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy Destiny and I think the way they have merged the FPS with the MMO stuff is pretty cool (and I'm not an MMO person). I think they've found a way to increase the character development and player involvement in the game exponentially What they forgot was plot. Halo's plot was silver screen worthy (fingers crossed). I have yet to find anything more than comic book scraps worth of plot in Destiny. I also agree with the board that the duration of the game and variety of content is sad in comparison with what we have all come to know and expect from Bungie. I think Bungie's split from MS was well played on their part. They are after all a company which needs to make money and denying an entire platform doesn't make good business sense. But why would they develop a multi-plat game and then tease half their user base with content unavailable to them (keep in mind I have both systems here,). I'm not the ultra leveled up player (kind of slow) so I have not exhausted everything yet, but not far from it and I've only been playing a week! Lastly, to those with the argument "numbers don't lie", data can be manipulated in almost any way desired, including numbers. Hours played, or number of users is not an indication that everyone is happy with the game. It could be, but it could also be due to lack of content available so players just play the only decent game available. As I said, I'm, enjoying the game, but Bungie should be listening to the boards and adapting to the concerns raised here. Everyone here has the same interest, awesome gaming. If Bungie were to work with their customers they would not only be profitable, they would nurture a userbase which would provide support for future franchises. If they do not listen, the userbase which was begun with Halo will likely lose faith in the once untouchable Bungie powerhouse.

If you had read the contract that Activision has with Bungie then you would know that it was Activision and NOT Bungie that created all the hype around this game as per that contract. I also think it hilarious that you talk about running to another previously Bungie game series in order to escape this one as if they no longer get any royalties from the sale of the HD Versions of the games they created. I really do find it very funny, but hey, at least you're not running to CoD AW. Those games aren't my thing.lol
-
They have more info about the game than you. What facts do you have that the game is dying?
-
Actually I'm still pouring hours into the game because I like it. Their is no FPS that is better imo. I like grinding to get raid gear, I like grinding to upgrade my weapons and armor. Its fun to me. If you don't think so that's cool, but don't assume everyone does.

Big diffirence between a fun grind and a tedious obe

Guys, on behalf of all Xbox people I want us to not buy the new dlc or any more bungie content until bungie changes their agreement with Sony and start to give Xbox people the exclusives that Sony people have been getting. Did you know that sony players In the next dlc will be getting 2 new strikes that Xbox people won't! We have been loyal to bungie for far too long! We deserve to be treated better. Help me by posting on this form stating your loyalties to Xbox. I believe if we can boycott their dlc they will realize they will loose a lot of money if they do t change things around. Stand strong with mr and in the long Run we will get equality. Spread the word. Xbox is on strike!

Been playing Sunset Overdrive which is a word destiny isn't familiar with.....fun

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Hint: they sold 500 million copies the day of release, they don't care what the reviewers and buyers say. When companies tell you they "care for the customers" it's a lie.

Bungie sucks period. They should have buried that name a long time ago when they had pride and brains

Edited by B Rox Tones: 11/2/2014 3:30:06 AMYou know what this is dead right. I literally remember the other day thinking, "why do I continue to do this, what's my motivation for doing the same things 3 times a day/week", but you hit the nail on the head, I continue to do this, and the only reason I was contemplating buying the dlc was, "INCASE I FELL BEHIND". You said it sir. Thank you for helping me see what was in front of my face. Bungie, .... You simply disappoint.

Normally I'd disagree with you but Bungie is forcing me into their craptastic Crucible right now. Exotic bounty. So right now this game sucks terribly.
