Here's a thought. Let's pretend the PR team spoke out if turn before consulting with the engineering team. Let's also pretend that the engineering team was already working on a priority project or two.
I can tell you where that extra project would go (to the bottom of my list).
The blazing "nerf" to said weapons was probably executed by an executive doing damage control. Aka the boss said fix it now.
People changes can take time. It takes my company a week just to order bolts. Also you can not possibly know the priority of a change unless you work there.
