I own both of these weapons, and I can kind of see why they haven't been buffed yet. They're not game-changers, but they're both pretty solid weapons. Yes the Thorn's reload time is atrocious (seriously, were it not for my Hunter's reload-quickening ability I don't know what I would do) and Bad Juju is... what's the issue with Bad Juju again?
And I know they said they would buff them and it's a problem they haven't, but I can justify their quick response to the Mythoclaust which would and could wipe an entire team in seconds (slight exaggeration) while the Thorn and Bad Juju are for the most part decent guns. Priorities- they rarely make sense to anyone other than the people who have them.

I have both and both are in the vault.

the thorn needs a higher impact value the things shoots out huge ass metal thorns and it has like the lowest impact which is just stupid and the lingering damage should be way higher when damaging foes it only does like 50 dam per sec i have 6 rounds so im not doing that much damage where as if you compare it to hawkmoon its literally just out gunned in every field
-
It 2 shots in pvp needs nerf
-
oh hawkmoon
-
lol it doesn't its a 4-3 shot
-
You mean hawkmoon 2 shots yeah it does.

Edited by Ghost J34: 10/27/2014 1:06:15 AMI have a fully perked Bad Juju, and I could not disagree with you more with regards to its usefulness, or lack thereof. I don't have the Thorn, so I can't comment, but the Bad Juju is terrible even when it's fully perked, which is why you never see anyone using it outside of patrols. The only thing it's good for right now is killing weak trash mobs like dregs and vandals. Anything stronger than that requires a different gun, which is inexcusable for a gun like this. The gun has absolutely nothing going for it. It's very low impact combined with the smallest magazine size of any pulse rifle in the game. It legitimately makes no sense. And about "priorities" - I guarantee more people have the Bad Juju than the Mythoclast (well, I'm not so sure anymore considering all the glitching going on now). No one forced Bungie to announce these buffs, and no one forced them to announce it back when basically no one even knew what the Mythoclast was. I don't understand why nerfing 1 gun owned by a small portion of the population is of a "higher priority" than buffing a gun that you already announced that you were going to buff. It's about coming through on your promises in a timely manner, nothing more. They obviously had the time to balance other weapons during the same time frame, so they've had the time to buff these guns as well.

Once again, my like or dislike of these guns is based more on opinion than solid fact. I've killed Falllen Captains, Knights, and even some Minotaurs with it (even tried taking on a Praetorian once. That... didn't end well). I think most of the reason they're taking so long with these buffs is they're trying to balance a strong enough buff that makes the guns useful without turning them into the next SUROS Regime or Vex Mythoclaust- overpowered. And when I say "higher priority" I mean the Mythoclaust was an absolute beast. You could very well have one guy with the Vex take on an entire six man team and kill every one of them. The amount of people who owned it was almost a moot point. If they hadn't taken that down soon it would have escalated far too quickly in my opinion- more people getting it, more people dominating the Crucible with it, more people crying bloody murder over it. Rinse and repeat. Whereas the Thorn and Bad Juju are not OP. Between taking two under performing weapons and upgrading them and one super over powered weapon being made more fair to those who don't have it, they probably judged the latter to be the more pressing need, and I agree with them. Once more, this is opinion influenced by the fact I don't particularly mind the guns and can use them rather well. You're not obligated to agree.

I have absolutely not idea what you are talking about. Both Thorn and Bad JuJu [but Bad JuJu even more-so] are ATROCIOUS weapons. I'm not sure what your level of progression is, but at higher levels these weapons are unusable. Bad JuJu needs more damage and possibly a larger magazine size to be effective, and I don't even use hand cannons, but mostly everyone who I've talked to have dismissed Thorn as a viable option as a primary.
-
Ok, I'm level 28 and I only have one more upgrade on Bad Juju left. With the String of Curses perk, it becomes quite an excellent weapon. Like I said- no game changer, but I prefer it that way. As long as you're good with precision damage (and since I started with hand cannons precision damage is my bread and butter) it can be a beast for taking out streams of lower-tiered enemies like Dregs, Thralls, or Acolytes. But if you're going up against a bigger enemy like a Gate Lord or such, you probably want to switch to something with a little more punch. I only got the Thorn two days ago, but from what I've seen it also isn't that bad. The recoil is pretty standard for a hand cannon in my opinion and it also deals good damage. My only complaint really is the reload speed as I said above- I haven't taken the Thorn into the Crucible for this specific reason. Of course it all comes down to opinion in the end. If you don't like them, that's fine.
-
I love thorn to death! I do bring it with me in every crucible match I go into, except for the recent ones (got pocket infinity) while I don't think it needs a impact or recoil buff (i think those stats are fine the way they are) I do think they need to buff that reload speed AND magazine size.
-
Yes, bad juju is fun to use when taking out low level mobs.... Whipteedoo. I have sir is regime, bad juju and a legendary scout rifle. I use the scout rifle any time I'm doing something serious. I use suros for crucible. I use bad juju when I'm farming on patrols. Bad juju is utterly under powered compared against other legendary pulse rifles. We don't even need to compare it's effectiveness against other worthy exotic rifles.

Edited by Refried: 10/27/2014 1:10:59 AMThorn has a slow reload speed and only holds 6 rounds, when you compare it to the legendary hand cannons from vendors(Devil You Know and Lord High Fixer) they have better stats and 12 round magazines. Thorn is fine damage wise but it needs more rounds in the mag or it needs a much faster reload time. Thorn is an exotic, it should have a benefit over using the Legendary Hand Cannons from the vendors. Also they need to make it so that every shot reapplies the DoT, as it stands only your first shot applies the DoT so it's wearing off by the time you get your last shot off.
-
Seriously. Double the reload speed, leave everything else alone, and grab a coke. Why does my 12 round Devil reload faster than my 6 round thorn? And my Devil has higher impact. Or better yet. Drop the last round bonus damage and make it reload lightning quick on precision kills. Done. Thank me later,
-
Agreed on both counts, or kind of. The Thorn's reload speed in my opinion is by far it's absolute worst attribute. I haven't gotten to the DoT perk yet, so I can't offer an opinion on that.

Omfg both need a buff
