Since we know the Thorn buff is coming, lets discuss it. First off, I love Thorn, I think it performs well, but it's not quit that "exotic." There are many small issues with Thorn that would be fine by themselves, but add up to be a bigger plight. 6 shots with the current damage output is not enough to register a reload speed slower than a machine gun. The 2nd skill tree doesn't go with the gun. I would replace them with High-caliber rounds(Thorn doesn't have much stability to begin with, so why not?), Send it(This thing is like a sniper rifle already), and and flared magwell(That is if Bungie decides not to change the reload speed, if they DO upgrade reload speed, I'd replace this with field scout or something that increases max mag size). And of course we all know that the MoTD timer needs to be fixed. It should either stack(2 rounds make lingering damage do 14 instead of 7) or refresh the timer with each shot. Feel free to post more suggestions below.

All exotic primary weapons should have a damage type, void makes the most sense for the thorn, it needs at least a 12 rounds in the mag, and the DoT needs to refresh on hit. But since there are legendary primary weapons with damage types (void, solar & arc) the exotic primary weapons should all have a damage type, this would only effect PvE.

I'd like to see the reload speed maxed and dots refreshed on every hit. That's about it.

Add a refresh on the DoT when chaining precision shots; body shots still activate DoT, but it won't refresh until critical hits are [b]CHAINED[/b]. This makes it useful in pve, and doesn't make it op in pvp (considering how strong it is atm).

You must be nuts to think the perfect balance perk can be removed, that will effectively half the rate of fire because of how much longer it'll take to line up the gun properly for any consecutive shots!! Especially to replace that perk with high calibre rounds, on a weapon with such a low rate of fire already?

The dot should refresh on every hit at a minimum. I know it will not be popular but I don't really have a problem with the reload speed. I'd rather see the dot perk improved upon. I think doing that would keep the weapon more in line with what bungie stated how they would like to see exotics. Please don't scrap the send it or prefect balance perks. Logically I feel the dot should stack in time and/or damage in pve to compensate for the slow reload and 6 bullet/thorn capacity. I can understand not having that in pvp as many would feel it is over powered then. I don't understand the need for field scout as if you are a hand cannon user you probably already equipped your armor to carry more hc ammo. Btw I have my thorn leveled up minus the last few damage upgrades and also have fully leveled up the last word and fully leveled up the devil you know.

Ima add some stuff too. We all know damage, reload speed and mag size need to be buffed, but I think that that's a smaller problem than the skill trees and DoT timer thing. I say either increase the mag size to 12 or something similar so it could give that horrendous reload speed a reason to be there, or or buff the damage by a bit, increase the mag size to 8 or 7, and fix the reload speed to be at least usable.

Edited by scuzzgolem: 10/27/2014 4:53:01 PMI would say add two to the mag and then replace the last round perk with the outlaw perk which would take care of the reload speed problem while at the same time rewarding the type of precision play that is the hallmark of this weapon. Someone suggested adding flared magwell and field scout to second upgrade tree. I could get behind that as well. DoT refreshing would be nice as well. Stacking the dot would be OP in PvP, so I don't see that happening. Could maybe increase it by 50% or something if they don't want to add a refresh.

Here's another idea: Have an option that the poison do damage over time (like now) or have the poison slowly blind you (like the oracles in the vault do).

I think the thorn was made for defender titan. Cause he can reload that thing in less than a second

Idea to fix the small clip without changing the clip size. Perk: Bullets that kill multiple targets are instantly returned to your magazine.

Reload speed. Honestly to me, it's the reload speed that detracts from the Thorn wielding experience.

The health that Motd takes away from your enemy should transfer to you

I think that when an enemy dies from the DoT effect they should leave a small green puddle, like the ones that the fanatics leave in the raid.

No way to make MotD stack, it would became really op, both in pve and pvp! MotD need to refresh, but in pvp just for the second shot.More then that in pvp and it would became op.
