Exotics are worthless, Destiny loot bad. Story missions for exotics?

TL;DR Exotics should be gained by completing their own story quests. Like exotic bounties but none of the super grind, repetition, rage causing elements. Exotics are luck based. There isn't any cool factor to owning them. Before you think you are clever by posting "hur dur OP wuns be special snowflake" I'm not talking about the amount of people who have it. I'm talking about belonging to a special club. I see a thorn user and think "damn, what a champ. He grinded void kills and beat that summoning pits mission". I see Suros and think "How boring. Got 23 coins, nothing special" They should have their own stories. Thorn is the only weapon that requires any challenge to obtain and the weapon isn't even that great. Read the exotic Grimoire, we should have to go through their stories to unlock the weapons. Look at the last word for example. The story behind the gun is badass. If we had to do something (I don't even care if it requires RNG) to unlock the mission, then walk through a story to get the gun, I'd be happy. Imagine walking with the original renegade gunslinger. At the end something happens and he gives you his gun. Or fighting through hostile lands to find Toland's Journal, instead of grinding repetitive strikes. Anyone who gets to level 30 and has lots of exotics isn't cool, they just have more time to make deals with RNGesus. If exotics have a legacy in game, I wouldn't even care about RNG, I'd be impressed when I see someone who has one. At the least, I'd understand what they went through. I wouldn't think "oh, got lucky". It's not like it's asking for an arm and a leg. The stories behind every exotic are already in the Grimoire. How about we cut the repetitive crap and get to some good stuff? When you borrow elements from other genres, you don't take the bad stuff. Less luck. More awe.

  • Honestly as much as the graphics are good, the gamy flow is good and I do compliment all the artists, writers and game designers of Destiny. However, with that said I will say the story so far, well a Sunday comic has more depth than Destiny and I agree there needs to be more story behind why for characters ( there the lack of) and who we are fighting, I mean is it that much of a challenge to throw that in? The one interesting character ( the stranger) we see her for a whopping 3 minutes, really??? I'm upset about that, the Queen, we get 2 lousy cut scenes, really!? I mean the lack of story is baffling !!! I honestly thought WTF that's it" You're kidding me right, did I miss something? Thought ok well maybe as I go along they'll be more, nope. Same patrol missions over and over and over again - just once I would like to get a patrol mission saying to rescue a downed Guardian or something other than the BS over and over again. I've lost count at how many games I have played but even the ok games had a freaking story behind them, also the roam space? What roam space? There's more roam space in a cardboard box! I died several times no because I was told to turn back, I was like no I want to check that out! But nope, can barely even climb on things unless you get a good glitch going and luck out. I know this has nothing to do with the artists, writers or game designers - this is corporate locking us out of this game play and it really is upsetting that they have locked us out of so much of the game. I have been playing now only a month and I am almost maxed out and the only reason I find I am still playing is 2 elements, my compulsion to max out my levels and helping out other guardians, but with every online game there are always some that try to ruin the fun by being jerks as you all know. Anyhow that's not what I am upset about, Activision has lost my trust big time and that is not so easily earned back. Why should I pay more money for more content, what guarantee is there that there will actually be more content? Obviously the story is lost so they have no intention of delivering a story to Destiny. Dialogue is shameless, I played RuneScape for many years, despite it was a pc game and not exactly the same as Destiny, at least RuneScape had a story, special weapons had a story and they weren't so easy to get either. Also there were actual events and lots of quests/missions, slayer you could do on your own. Why I say the Tower is a joke? Well not sure what Activision has in store for Destiny, I'm not even sure what it is at the moment to be honest. It's not a mmorpg game, cause if it was there would be more merchants, there would be trading amongst players, you'd be able to buy materials and supplies, their would be potions, medicines what have you that you could keep in your inventory when out patrolling or doing missions. The Tower lacks so much, why isn't there more areas to explore there or even just hang out and do mini games or what have you. You can click on each others character but can't message, why? Other than getting bounties, rewards and a bit of gear there's nothing there. Why I say it's not a mmorpg game and it lacks any fundamental story line so you can't really call it a game game? It's like they have cut out all the good stuff, threw the story in the waste basket and are hoping people will be subdued by the hidden subliminal message encoded to keep us coming back. The lack of anything of potions, materials ect in this game is mortifying, don't get me wrong I like this game but if this is all I get for $60.00 and I have to pay an additional $35.00 in hopes they include what? Another story if we are lucky? Do you realize the amount of money Activision stands to make off of us? What happens when you are totally maxed out in combat and you have all the shiny exotic weapons? Crucible? Raids? I think we deserved at least a good story for crying out loud and we didn't get that, what we got was the speaker saying he could tell us a story but won't. We got lame cut scenes in between missions that didn't explain anything, most of the interactions aren't explained so you have to read the forums or google it on youtube to figure out what the heck they mean, really!!! This game could be so much more and it does have the potential, however there are so many players who feel they got burnt by Activision that, like me - they aren't willing to pay for nothing. Activision is going to have to make good on what they promised us, if they are not willing to unlock areas that are already on the disc we paid for - then I fear Destiny is destined to fail. Don't get me wrong it's great to help out other players, I do and always have when I play online games. However there is nothing that will keep me going long term and I was hoping for more, instead I got a lousy story and pretty much beat the story mode in less than 2 weeks. How do they justify this? This is why so many are upset and we have a right to be, we're not upset with the artists, writers, game designers or fellow gamers - we're upset with Activision and so should all of you. If Activision doesn't admit what they did and owe up to their mistake and unlock the content we paid for on our disc, then why should we pay for their million dollar yachts and luxury cruises, their laughing all the way to the bank! If they don't fix this, I will never buy anything with Activision on the label. I would like to add to all the artists, writers and game designers who worked on Destiny, great job and I know this isn't your fault - we know who is to blame.
