Destiny came and all of a sudden everyones "Pro". (A note on playerbase and the VoG)

Yesterday I played through the Vault of Glass fully for the first time. It was great to see the beautiful design of it, but the problem was the people I was with. For starters, it was a bunch of younger dudes who have a mouth on them xD This guy was so proud to tell us how his lvl 30 has done the raid 100 times and that his own vault is filled with Legendaries and Exotics. At first I was impressed, but once we got to the Templar... everything changed. This was no longer the raid I played the first time, and died multiple times trying to do it legit. No. Instead, we had this lvl 30 telling me that "Hunter's are useless in the VoG". To which I asked why (considering we had a lvl 29 Hunter with us and I myself play as a Hunter), and he merely responded because they are. Now it was only when we got to the Templar that I realised why I wasn't enjoying this. The players were more concerned with glitching the Templar and Atheon, pushing them off the edge with their EPIC WARLOCK GRENADES, while me and another player sat in a corner, feeling goddamn useless. It sucked. The whole point of a raid is to come together as a team and devise strategies to defeat the obstacles in front of you. I hardly felt like I even did anything in the raid, as these guys carried on talking about their "Amazing skills at pushing Atheon". So, I sat in Atheons lair, literally hiding behind a -blam!-ing pillar while this dude compalined that Atheon was not going in the right spot. I hadn't even shot a single shot at him, I hardly even knew what I was doing because this group were so focused on glitching him out. I'm now on the Hard mode of the raid, but I don't dare go for it with another bunch of randoms for fear of sitting in a corner once more, listening to try hards as they talk about their 1000000 Exotics and Legendaries. In conclusion, people are more concerned with glitching a raid and gaining loot, than actually finishing it legit. What is the point of glitching to get gear, when the gear is used for the Raid anyway? If you want play a dress up sim, go ahead and google a shitty flash game. For this asking I'm on xbone Gamertag AytonHunter Feel free to check out my clan Enigma Sphere and consider joining!

  • The use of the word "everyone" is invalid. It is an absolute and there will always be 1 or more persons that do not agree with your ideas. #NoAbsolutes

  • At least you get to go through the raid without any disconnects every 5 minutes.

  • Hunters are the best by far with dealing with oracles and the minotaur inside the portals.

    • People are free to enjoy the game however they like, but I share your concern. I recently completed my first 100% Hard Mode run on the raid, and I didn't feel any sense of accomplishment. I ran into the same thing you did: Warlocks that wanted to cheese the bosses off of the map. I was a Hunter, and my role on the Atheon fight was to kill myself as soon as I spawned. If it's still in the game, then it's fine that people take advantage of it, but I personally can't wait till both bosses are patched. I won't be playing the Raid on Hard until it's fixed.

      • Feel free to add me (GT same as name here, zeroes between x's) as I have pushed the Templar off and do not find it nearly as satisfying as doing it the real way. I would be happy to run it with you for real and hopefully once these issues get patched, these players who can't beat it legit, will just go away. Chin up! They won't be ruining our games before long!

      • It's annoying to see the good players that want to be good as a team overran because they were smart enough to not try the vault at level 24. It's annoying because we wait and think, so I will be good enough to go into the vault, and then see a level 25 walking around with all these sweet rewards that they didn't really earn. Rest easy though, soon the next COD will come out, and all the people who whine and complain will leave for warmer waters, and the people who want to check all the scenery, take the long beautifully designed walk instead of blasting a sparrow through a narrow gap to go fast, want to have fun as a team, go into a crucible match with a game plan, have everyone cheer when you get rewarded, to cheer when others get rewarded. Loading a patrol and messing around looking for ghost fragments, helping a newbie through a mission, and much more, will be the only people left in the game. Hopefully it will be a small but dedicated little community. (I'm a level 28 and I haven't done the raid yet. I want to make friends, and then collectively do the raid the correct way, not some cheese tactics.) thanx for your time.

        • Wait, you joined a random lobby expecting then to play the way you wanted, and when they didn't your now accusing the whole playerbase of caring only about glitches and exploits? Interesting

        • Haven't raided yet, and when I do for the first time, I look forward to working through it with a group of like-minded (read 30-somethings or older) folks that are either new to the raid too, or who are interested in playing the part of mentor/Fireteam leader. However, I can definitely understand the drive to cheese after having beaten the raid "properly" numerous times (though I don't think it's the sort of grinding that appeals to me). That said, beating Atheon by pushing him off the edge seems like the most legit way to beat him, considering he's supposed to be some time-travelling Pentium III or something. What better way to add insult to injury than to defeat a seemingly omnipotent time monster by pushing him off a cliff, which he apparently doesn't have the wherewithal to time-travel back onto? Good grief.

        • OP made a choice to stay in the raid, to sit in the corner, and feel useless. So, instead of crying about how someone ruined the raid for you, find better people to raid with?

Yup now imagine how Bungie must feel when all these people cry for more and harder content yet at the same time glitch the final boss because they're "pro" at it to speed things up and diminishing the quality of higher level content. The irony, laziness, and toxicity levels in this forum are off the charts.

Finished my first raid with people from this forum. Your so called "randoms". Everyone had a headset and we played everything through like it was supposed to be played. And let me tell you it were the best hours of playing time I had in destiny so far. Even though we failed A LOT on atheon everyone was having a good time and we still would make jokes and laugh our asses off. Just have to find the right people :-)

          • Have you ever gone into the threads for raid? I have yet to see a post other than for someone to glitch Atheon. If lover to find ONE team that will play straight. Honestly, pushing the Templar off the edge is still glitching, but its not an "easy" thing to do, it takes a team. Whereas glitching Atheon is normally done by one person... The Templar is a mid boss anyway, not a big deal. ATHEON is supposed to be the hardest Vex ever, but if one person can push out of the edge, it defeats the point.

          • For starters, going in the raid with a bunch of ransoms is a horrible idea. Especially when you join with a bunch of kids. Just listening to their voices drives me up the wall so a refuse to play with them. I don't mind playing with new people who have never experienced the raid because I was there once. As long as they are mature and know how to listen to instruction. I've beaten the raid on normal at least a dozen times legit, not once will I ever push Atheon off and I will refuse to do the raid unless it is done the right way. I want to EARN my lucky drop gear lol. That being said, I have yet to do it on hard because I want to be a 30 first, and I will still do it legit. If you are looking for someone to raid with, my GT is Piroglyphic. Xbox 1 29 Hunter 28 Warlock 26 Titan.

            • ....the truth is, most classes work in the proper combo.....with....the right leader and deployment for fun and strategy. The chaud you got on that raid is some grease-ball wanna be man-hoocher. Lol, man-hoocher. I have not even made it to the Vault yet with a team that was will to play through it.....not once.

            • You just had bad luck. I joined a group of randoms for the raid. One person left halfway through the Templar and another had to join in. Fortunately, we didn't wipe once and got through in 45mins.

            • Hunters are not useless in the VOG. My first completion on hard, the lvl 30 hunter that was with us was probably the only reason we got through. Golden gun works great on oracles and minotaurs. Hunters do great for damage. Tell that guy to F*** off next time.

              • I do it because I have beat it the "correct" way a few times and now its about time management. Im old and have a family so I rather push them both off in 5 mins in order to spend my time doing other things. Especially since I will get another sparrow or shards for beating them instead of something worthy of my time unless I get lucky. Its about to get patched anyways and we will all have to go back to the normal way so for now might as well save the time and energy for when I need it.

                • Gunslinger hunters are good for taking out oracles, minotaurs, etc... Bladedancer isn't as great, but even they have uses. I think every class and subclass is a viable option. Striker titans can take elite minotaurs down to 33% health (from full health/shields) with their super if they do it right (aftermath or shockwave). Voidwalker warlocks can do some work with their super as well. Defender titan and sunsingers have obvious benefits...
