Hey dark it's Deaf again!
My take on new raiders is this:
1. You are not -blam!-ing Rambo so don't go in like an idiot (major emphasis on this if on hard)
2. Stay close to the person leading you through through the gorgon maze/ if you know your way through, guide others in an orderly fashion
3. Crouch when you see a gorgon less than 10ft away from you
4. Call out pretorians
5. Shoot the big red/ green digital thingies called oracles. Oracle alive= Wipe
6. Jump to the mid block floating between the two portals in the last part when the portal people come out. ALWAYS
7. If you hold a shield, please tell everyone to go the the midblock as I stated. BE THE FIRST ONE THERE.
8. Listen, don't argue
9. The raid needs Patience and Time to complete. If all else fails, you need a Plan C.If you don't have one, completing VoG will be a huge Thorn in your side. My Super Good Advice would to be friends with a guy who is 30 with a Vex Mythoclast. With my tips, you too, can bring Atheon to say The Last Word he will ever say, "here's an exotic Hard Light, bleh" *dies*

I've heard it countless times, and from my experience in the VoG (completed several times with different fireteams), it makes no difference, other than unnecessarily adding yet another chance of failure (people falling off, yes, it's stupid, and yes, it does happen). Also, it forces the Relic Holder to lower the shield a couple of seconds before the Time Portal opens, during which the whole team is in the same spot, right in front of Atheon, and completely unprotected, one lucky shot from him and it's an instant wipe. More often than not, I find myself in a fireteam that's doing precisely that, and when asked, all they can say is "somebody saw it on a YouTube video" and other nonsense like "Atheon can't shoot you there" (yes, he certainly can... that's why the shield is up) or "you do more damage shooting from there" (no, you don't. Also, the shield does not provide any damage bonus). Eventually, I suggest to meet up at the door behind it instead, which allows the shield to be up the whole time, while the two columns on the sides provide cover for the portal openers to disengage and return to positions safely. The one explanation that somewhat makes sense is that arpies won't follow you there, but then again, arpies should've been dealt with already at that point. Honestly, what am I missing?

Because of its simplicity. 3 people teleport, defend the portal if you didn't get teleported, when portal people are done go to center, shoot the bastard. We have two defender Titans (me being one of them) to Pop ward for an easy escape.

Too much time is wasted jumping to and from the platform to make the shield worth it. If you insist on doing it this way, the Titan bubble that buffs damage is worth putting up on the back of the platform.

And it frees up a ton of damage the shield user can do with his super charge.

Heh, where the Raid is concerned, "whatever works" is the way to go imho. Have not beat it the same yet. Las night we sent 1 guy through each portal simutaneously to get the relics while the other 4 stayed out and then we all went center together. Took a few tries, but now that we have it down (one guy had never grabbed the relic before, atter of fact, he had mever completed the raid, but he wanted to go in, so he did) I would use that every time until somebody comes up with a better way. The center is a pita to defend with 2 guys, but very easy with 6.
