Is this your sick way of saying deaf cant raid cuz we chose not to use a mic since we cant hear or understand a word people says?? Im deaf and dont use a mic or anything. And yet i raid cuz we use messaging. Besides some ppl that played with me will vouch that deaf can raid really good.
What we lack in hearing in games, we make up for fighting harder since we are more focused.
So dont say mic is 100% needed when you can just play without one and be fine.

#1 there is no insult provided to you. He said use a Mic. If you were mute that would be different. Some deaf folks can speak with their mouths. In such an instance making call outs is still useful. And the rest of the raid use text messages. I am sure a deaf person would be aware of what allowances they need to have made for them. #2 I have to call BS on deaf gamers being better because they can't hear. That is a load of crap. Most enemies are audio cued in modern games. Not being distracted by background noise provides no more advantage than tuning out background noise. Every decent gamer can tune out distractions. If you are actually deaf and not just trolling I do feel bad that you will never hear a lovers voice, a symphony orchestra, a child's laughter, or the sound the waves make of the beach. But your disability does not give you the right to pick fights where no obvious insult or offense was given. Try not to be offended by things so easily. If they had said " f deaf people they are useless" then you have cause to complain. As it was they suggested using misc to communicate. My $0.02

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying messaging won't work but I am saying that a group of randoms you haven't played with before probably aren't going to gel with a deaf player they have to learn how to communicate with under pressure. I'm betting you already have a group of people you play with anyway....

Here we go. The insane minority jumps all over a valid point. We are sorry you cannot hear the beautiful sounds in this amazing world. However, stop being an idiot. He in no way directed this towards the " handicapped " and towards the lazy bastards who can hear and fail to yutilize a direct line of communication.

I don't believe he meant it that way. Sure there are people who are deaf and play Destiny such as yourself. You are to be commended for being able to be on teams and succeed where even hearing people don't. I think he just meant if you do have hearing and you have a mic and use it properly it can be a great benefit to the Raid team. Keep up the good fighting.

What about blind people? Or people with no hands? This game discriminates against them because they can't see the game or hold a controler. Bungie should be ashamed for not thinking about how they can get the blind and handless to raid VoG.

Communication is the important thing. If you're not gonna use a mic, then party chat is a MUST. Unless your team is extremely good, or everyone knows their roles by heart having someone who's not communicating makes everything much harder.

I'm very sorry. I was not thinking about people who have a disability or impairment. As others have pointed out, as long as the person without a mic is willing to listen then things can be done. Its just much quicker for people to confirm their role if they are able to speak on the mic. There are some people who have no hearing or speaking difficulties and simply just don't want to help the team by communicating in the fastest, most efficient and most effective manner.

I honestly don't think his post was intended to insult folks with hearing impairments. Please don't take offense. I think his point is more that if you're truly committed to raiding, you should find an effective way to communicate with your teammates -- and that is something I think everyone would agree with.

We're talking about general things and when they apply, naturally a deaf person cannot use a mic therefore they would use text based communication with their group.

this, i have a friend whos deaf and he does just fine. We just message him with what the general plan is and what he should be doing and he takes it upon himself to do his best which is all we can really ask for. The raid is pretty easy with a solid team making really the only communication needed being pre setup strategy.
