So, this has been bugging me for some time, and I wanted to hear what you all thought on the subject.
You all know Eva Levante, the woman who sells Emblems and Shaders from a very limited selection. There have been complaints about her selection of Shaders, and how she doesn't really update her stock. Many consider it to be just Bungie slacking off or hiding them in Strikes/Raids or PvP, but I offer a different explanation.
I believe that Eva Levante is NOT who she claims to be. The first bit of evidence is her limited selection, the same 4 Shaders, only changing out a couple Emblems every couple days... Every other shop changes normal items regularly, and yet she doesn't do anything to switch out her main product, the Shaders. I believe this is because the shop is a front for her true motives.
The second bit of evidence comes from Patrol missions on the various worlds. As you all know, you go exploring the various worlds, picking up missions from beacons left by the Tower. I've done plenty of missions for many people at the Tower, including the 3 factions as dubious as their goals may be. Eva Levante is one of the people who puts out missions for the Guardians to undertake, and her goals are quite suspect at the very least. For someone claiming to be an artist, Eva requests scans of very suspicious things.
Now, I know people will say that it's just a matter of RNGesus matching characters with missions, but then why have Eva Levante in the mix at all? There are plenty of different characters in the mission mix, so why have a self-proclaimed artist requesting scans and gathering of resources? During my missions, Eva Levante has requested scans of Fallen Communication Systems, a Hive Seeder Engine, and gathering of Fallen Induction Rods. Why? Why would an artist have any interest in scans and samples of alien technology?
There ARE signs remaining in Old Russia, logos on half-functioning screens in the Ishtar Academy, that Eva could request scanned for inspiration on new designs, but instead she asks for scans and samples of alien tech.
To get right down to it, I believe Eva Levante could be the head of a secret FOURTH faction, with unknown goals and ideals. The Emblem/Shader shop she runs is just a front, a glimmer-gathering resource she uses to build funds for her faction. I don't claim to know what her goals are, or what her faction wants, but I get the feeling we'll all find out soon enough!
Thoughts, feelings, ideas on the matter? Please post your opinions! I'm very interested to see what everyone else thinks!
EDIT: Here are a couple missions she puts out on Patrols. Thanks to Tut813275 for the info.
Name: Kilowatt Hours
Mission Type: Scan Devices
Location: Shattered Coast, Venus
Eva Levante has expressed interest in an energy spike along the Shattered Coast.
Name: Over and Out
Mission Type: Scan Comm Device
Location: Waking Ruins, Venus
Eva Levante wants an analysis of a potential Vex communications device in the Waking Ruins.
Odd things for an artist to want scans of...

She is either the most shady character in the game or the least shady depending on how you look at it.
-
The real conspiracy is this. eva levante is an anagram for valve eaten Valve is going to announce something big after they have eaten all their food. Half Life 3 confirmed. #destinyconspiracy #evalevante #illuminatti #ebola #halflife3

I get turned on every time I hear "Eva Levante here" when I open a mission.

Well she's an artist who is obviously incapable of traveling beyond the city, so where can she draw inspiration for her paintings? By asking you to scan locations, transmit the images to her, so then she has an idea of the outside worlds, so then she can paint/draw/whatever them.
-
Edited by Thanatonaut: 10/25/2014 9:32:12 PMI had the same suspicion, if she was asking for materials to find artistic inspiration then I feel like she would just say that upfront. Instead when you get a mission from her she refuses to give a reason what these things are for, the most she ever says is that its for her research. What kind of research would an artist be conducting that would require these strange scans and gatherings. You may be right, the patrol missions give you faction reputation, so there might be more information about Eva and her research that we haven't been given yet.

In books though, fronts like that are usually really really well made! She would have a ridiculously nice fashion shop, and you wouldn't be able to come up with suspicions like this because she is doing so well. What I think! (And I've said before) fallen pirates are consistently raiding her incoming supply ships. Rendering her unable to make new stock. If you look closely. All of her emblems are just made on college rule writing paper... She is really struggling now! The vanguard should release a mission allowing for us to eliminate these space pirates... Infiltrate the ship, kill the captain, raid the loot, and crash land that beast right i front of Eva's shop... Maybe put some heads up on posts... Just so these fallen know we are taking back earth... One fashion shop at a time...

Edited by Tut813275: 10/25/2014 7:32:10 PMWow I see alot of people brushing this off but they dont understand the significance of this theory. I did some digging and here are two of the missions that Eva Levante gives us. Name: Kilowatt Hours Mission Type: Scan Devices Location: Shattered Coast, Venus Eva Levante has expressed interest in an energy spike along the Shattered Coast. Name: Over and Out Mission Type: Scan Comm Device Location: Waking Ruins, Venus Eva Levante wants an analysis of a potential Vex communications device in the Waking Ruins. Grimore Card - Eva Levante
Eva Levante Eva Levante provided services to the Tower long before she actually took a place in it. Guardians would call for her work again and again, looking for marks of distinction, both new and old, and she began to craft emblems and shaders for the bold and discerning. These days she has set up shop in the Tower, taking quiet pride in the Guardians who train, fight, and fall under her signs.
WTF does Eva want with these things...this is VERY alarming please add this to your post. So people can see there's evidence.

Maybe the shader shop is a money laundering front the Destiny Mafia, The Ghosta Nostra. They got their hands in everything. Fixing crucible matches, the black market shard trade, counterfeit gun parts, and the list goes on.
-
Edited by Brightgrave-26: 10/22/2014 8:02:38 PMI think Crota is actually sleeping inside her chest and will burst out. Infecting the tower with a hive plague. We are all on to her.
-
Novel and plausible - I like it!
-
there is no Eva, there is only Zule
-
Maybe paint is a forgotten technology and Eva needs to reverse-engineer enemy tech to expand her selection.
-
She's just a poor senile old woman and you are playing along with her because even if you are an undead creature there's still a semblance of a soul inside you. That's my theory :D
-
You might be thinking too hard... You have to assume that Bungie did not think as hard as you lol
-
Thinking too much about this, the same happened with the indoctrination theory. She's a crappy shader seller nothing more.
-
I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain.
-
She's a spy for xur...

She isn't make nanny money from the shades we know that much

I like it...but I think you have too much time to think about random shite...I like it though, be cool if it's true

She is a devil woman who needs to update her shaders!

Every time Eva Levante shows up on a Patrol I wonder what is going on. So yes, totally agreed that she's shady.
