What went wrong with Destiny?

If you haven't already read the reddit post, click the link here if you don't want to read through my thoughts. Please like and comment to bring it to other's attentions. Since they stopped development of Halo, I looked forward to Bungie's next game. As soon as I caught wind of Destiny, I couldn't help but be giddy like a child on Christmas morning. As more and more information was released, my desire to play this game grew infinitely. It had so many great aspects that I wanted to experience, but what excited me more was the stuff they weren't showing us. The story we were shown looked amazing, and of course you can expect great storytelling from Bungie. This game we currently have now though is nothing like what we were shown. I know that they were always saying that things were subject to change, but to change the game around to this degree seems a bit suspicious to me. At the end of campaign, I found myself asking, "That was it? That's the entire campaign? I have no clue what's happening. Where's Charlemagne's Vault that I was so looking forward to exploring? Wasn't there something about Saturn I read somewhere? I couldn't even get into that giant towering structure in the middle of Venus that we were shown in the concept art," among a lot of other things. If you've had similar questions like this and ask yourself what happened, you owe it to yourself to know what happened. Once again, you can have a little more insight here. Take the time to read it all and click all of the links, and hopefully it will shed some light on the happenings behind the scenes. I know this doesn't change what has happened, but at least you will know some reasons why. Maybe you will cut Bungie a break after reading it. I still have high hopes for this game because it is Bungie after all. I still have faith that they can polish this gem.
