You cannot compare two grenades from armour to two grenades that require you to use one subclass (which happens to be the support class and least useful for solo play and DPS). Your argument that locks have to raid (and get lucky) when the titan example was sold by Xur reenforces my point that locks are disadvantaged. Dude, titans get great gear in the raid too. The classes are balanced apart from armour. Therefore, I take solar grenades into account.

Sunsinger solar grenade with the sunbreaker gauntlets are great IMO.. Plus self revive comes in handy all the time.. I'm not a PvPer so if that's the angle you're going for then I'll take my comments back, but for PvE they're great

Your right on one point here. The titans void grenades do a shit ton more area of effect damage than the sunsingers.

It's more of a radial cone than AOE since it only has about a 2x2 radius. But it hits like a hammer I'll agree.

Firebolt has a pretty decent-sized radius.
