Well you have Borderlands the Presequel to play to death now.
It does feel like borderlands 2 but there's enough there to make it feel different kinda sort of.

Yeah, I know about Presequel. I got into BL kind of late, though, so it hasn't been all that long since I played the first two, thus this one would probably feel stale.

Maybe just wait for a delux edition or something then there's nothing wrong with a break
