Yeah Battlefield 4 was pretty -blam!-ed at launch. I had a good time with it after everything was fixed though.
Activions microtransactions are focused on cosmetic items. You don't need them to do well, they just make you look better, sometimes. Weapon/Character skins, Snoop Dogg, n stuff.

Maybe but I just have sneaking suspicion that Activision is in it to maximize profits. I can't really prove it but I will point to every movie tie in game ever for some basis though.

Yeah I don't even touch those. I give Activision the benefit of the doubt when it comes to developers like Bungie, just letting them do their thing and make a great game. I've had fun with Destiny, but not as much fun as I've had with Borderlands, Diablo, Guild Wars... hell I even want to go back and play some Ghosts multiplayer right now, maybe even jump onto BF and fly some jets into the ground.
