I believe that bungie seriously needs to separate pve weapon numbers and pvp numbers when it comes to damage output. It is the same thing that most games that have both pvp and pve realized, that if you separate them out it makes it better. For example I am going to post something I posted as a response to someone elses post about the Vex weapon from VoG HardMode.
"What about the shotgun, I see a lot of talk about Vex, but honestly shotgun in PVE before was pretty useless, now with this nerf to shotguns across pvp and pve, it hurts pve so much more. Before you still had to be up in the enemies ballsack to do any damage, now with the dropoff rate at range doing even less, means you can't just be at his balls anymore it means you have to be halfway up his ass to do any damage. PVP and PVE should have separate values with games that have pve and pvp, so that way when something is Overpowered in pvp it doesn't make it harder to PVE against NPC creatures...."
The shotgun though effective in pvp has pretty much always sucked in pve and made it to where almost no one uses it in pve. Which this current patch going live it will make them even worse for pve and might make the few people that actually use a shotgun in pve stop using them altogether and use something else. All weapons should be a viable option in a game like this.
EDIT: throwing out some real world facts for you guys as well, on real life shotguns. Enjoy.
In real life with a full choke on a shotgun, at 15 yards <---- yards now that is 45 feet, the spread is only about 11-12 inches that is little less than to a foot. at 15 yards that is a pretty big distance and only 1 foot of spread, that means in circumference of the area hit not the spread between each pellet, so at 15 yards someone can put a 1 foot blast of pellets into you, which will most likely kill you. That in the case of this game is not, so you can hit someone with a shotgun in this game in pve, and from 3 feet away you can see the pellets spread to about 6 feet.
EDIT: And for those that are seemingly having a problem comprehending , the #2 option They should keep nerfing all around means (spelled out for you) NO they should keep nerfing for PVP and PVE together. So to reiterate in yet another form, NO they should keep doing it the way they are doing now. Now stop commenting on you don't understand the poll use your brain (for those of you having problems with it).
If you agree let me know, if you don't agree let me know why you feel that they should be together and it shouldn't matter.

Bias poll is biased. Good job on making a retarded poll that doesn't illustrate any opinions other than your own.
-
I have yet to find a game where they have successfully blended PVE and PVP play. My personal opinion is if a company wants to make a successful game with PVP it needs to have PVP and PVP only. 100% focus on PVP. You can't blend the two in one game because they are completely different play styles which are split between two very different types of players.

if someone went through hell for the vex pulse rifle, i'd like the PvE damage to remain the same while PvP is ok, the damage is that of a auto rifle in pvp

Edited by LEAFSreborn555: 10/15/2014 1:01:40 PMYou dumb bitch. If you wanna take real life gun stats then heres this. Any gun can 1 hit you in the head. In this game it takes 3 to 4 headshots (even in lvl 2 dregs). If a head shot isnt a 1 hit kill in this game then a shotgun should NOT be a 1 hit kill other then 1 foot away.

Truth truth truth truth truth!!!!

I love the new shotgun nerf. My shotgun is 10x better than it was before the patch. Apparently, everyone else's is too because all I've seen in PVP for 2 days are shotties. Seriously, I love the weren't-we-supposed-to-nerf-this buffs!!
-
personally I'm glad the shotguns got a -blam!-ing nerf. too many COD SOB'S running around with no skill. now i do, however, agree that they should separate nerds and buffs from PVE and PVP.
-
Know how I know you're a moron? You're trying to compare the mechanics of real life to a game about the future and space wizards.
-
Agreed
-
Totally agree. PvE is a totally different game than PvP, and requires totally different balancing requirements. Its obvious.

Like your poll with no other options but to select your veiwpoint.... no not clicking

I don't play Destiny's PVP (Another topic another time) I do have to agree though regarding PVE and the shotguns, I actually in other games often have enjoyed the challenge of using a shotgun presented; getting in close shoot and move etc. I very recently acquired my first exotic item, a shotgun called the "Universal Remote" now don't get me wrong when up VERY close this thing was pretty serious taking out Knights in two shots etc. However, the range not only on this shotgun but all of them I have tried in the game are far to limited (I am a former firearms instructor) I know the reality of what a shotgun can and can't do and I will be the first to admit that in most games the shotgun has way too much range but in Destiny they seemed to have gone to far the other direction.

It seems like they do separate damage already in some way, but updates don't specify one or the other.
-
I think they should have something for weapons sorta like how armor has light but instead of affecting levels it only affects the damage to players nothing else, so the more a weapon has of this the more damage it does to players ONLY. Like how WoW has pvp power on weapons bungie should have something like that but across all weapons so in the crucible with the system that makes all level gear equal a low level with 1 "pvp power" would be equal to a weapon with 10 "pvp power" so the only time the difference "pvp power" would matter is in the iron banner
-
Dat one sided poll.
-
They can't. That would require them to write in several formulas that essentially do the same thing but with minor variances. That's too easy for a system to get confused and start bugging out. Why break the Bekenstein LImit when you have one formula for everything which creates a smooth and more polished experience so you're not putting out fires every second of the day when the system gets its data wires crossed?
