In no particular order, listing my favorite series and my current favorite game in the series in parentheses after it. The Elder Scrolls (Morrowind), Fire Emblem (Rekka No Ken), Metroid (Prime), Halo (Combat Evolved), Pokemon (Gold/Silver), Legend of Zelda (Link Between Worlds), Dragon Quest/Warrior (Monsters), Golden Sun (Lost Age), Portal (the first one), Magi Nation (there was only one, series was just too good to last). Honorable mentions to Dragon Age and Mass Effect - I love both, but they are newcomers to my favorites list, they need more time before nostalgia sets in enough to solidify them into my top 10, plus that would push something else off. As for why Destiny isn't on the list? Lots of reasons. The biggest one is probably nostalgia - you'll notice the majority of my favorites were on game cube, game boy advanced, or game boy color. That generation was my gaming heyday. I'm also more of an RPG fan than a shooter fan. I bought into Destiny because I loved the story of Halo and liked the idea of Bungie doing a shared world FPS with some RPG elements. I, like everyone was disappointed on the story end, but I got hooked by the gameplay and the grind. As much as people may hate that part of the game, I really like being able to just hop on and kill an hour or two mindlessly headshoting mobs. And recycled environments have never bothered me - I think that's why I'm like the only person on earth who actually loved DA2.

you have a point about DA2 lol but you gotta admit the content and scope of even DA2 was bigger and better than this game. especially when you count the deep roads expedition

  • Oh, undoubtedly. For one thing you actually did different quests in those areas instead of repeating the exact same mission a thousand times. And whether you liked the plot of DA2 or not, at least it had one that was clearly thought out and properly explained in-game. Plus a big cast of highly memorable (if not always like-able) characters. Destiny is lacking on all of those fronts, but still has the flaws of recycled environments and DLC that's already on the disk. I do still enjoy Destiny though. It's not the epic space Odyssey it promised to be, but at least it's still a fun platform to interact with my friends while mowing down waves of aliens.
