Although I have both, its still laughing at you subhuman plebeians that do not have Patience and Time.
Those of you with Patience and Time, like myself, this is your moment to bask in the glory of your superiority.
I have both.. I got ice breaker 2nd week the game came out from a purple wngram, and patience and time from crucible.
Ice breaker destroys patience and time, any day of the week in PvE
Patience and time beats ice breaker PvP.

Patience and Time has higher DPS since youre forced to wait 5 seconds per bullet regeneration and I can just reload P&T. DPS > Damage
Patience and Time has higher DPS since youre forced to wait 5 seconds per bullet regeneration and I can just reload P&T. DPS > Damage
I can sit and hide, and snipe alllll day in any strike or raid mission and not use any ammo synthesis. I've won multiple nightfalls because of ice breaker, its unbeatable in PvE.

Nighfalls are super easy... if you shoot "All day" that sucks. It only takes around 15-20 minutes to do a nightfall and if the bonus is Arc damage P&T will kill almost any boss without running out of ammo.

No, I don't shoot "all day" but I have the ability to if I wanted, without any ammo synthesis cool down. I don't know why you're arguing with me so hard about this, they're both good sniper rifles. Ones better for PvP, Ones better for PVE. Deal with it.

Well, P&T has higher DPS so its better for boss fights like Atheon. In very extended fights I can see Icebreaker being useful, but the fight would have to be longer than 10 minutes and have no ammo drops since I can extend the duration of P&T with a Synthesis. If it takes more than 10 minutes to kill a boss... got some bad news for you.

Overall, both snipers are great and we obviously have different opinions on each rifle, which is perfectly okay. Good luck and have fun with Destiny. :)

I agree theyre both good.
This entire post is just to troll people. :)
You make it sound like everyone using the Ice Breaker walks into a fight with no shots charged. Unless you are trying to fire the thing as fast as you can, more shots charge as you fire. I've had sessions where I've shot off 15-20 shots before having to actually wait for the reload.
-
That means you wait 6+ seconds between shots... Also during Atheon, youre going to want to shoot as fast as you can during Times Vengeance since it lasts only 20 seconds and it takes 30 seconds to get 6 bullets to regenerate. P&T has much higher DPS which is what you want during boss fights.
-
You misunderstand. I'm not saying I am shooting 1 shot then waiting for it to fill. I fire one shot, and am at 5. I line up another shot and fire, being at 4, but then the regen kicks in and I'm back at 5. Continue until you either just die or get a considerable amount of shots off before it actually runs out. And as for Atheon, tell that to the teammates I had as I destroyed him because since I actually take the time to aim for his weak spot, my ammo was regenerating during the whole thing. I wouldn't blow my entire clip in the first 2 seconds or something, because with a sniper, you do have to aim, which allows the regen to kick in. Also, I don't have to use ammo synth's when all the green ammo is at the feet of the big bad guy, so I don't have to pause in a fire fight, and I don't have to risk my neck for ammo. Sure, DPS is typically better, but what about when you run out entirely, while the Ice Breaker can keep going?
-
Well I did the math, if youre "Taking time" to aim then youre doing even less damage and shooting even less shots at Atheon. I shoot P&T extremely fast and in the weak spot and I dont miss (Because its extremely easy to hit) and we kill Atheon in 2-3 teleports. He dies before I ever have to Synthesis, and I never use my sniper on anything else because my Epilogue/Vision and Heavy weapons are much better at killing everything else.
-
Truth...I have p&t, does work. Atheon on norm should take 2-3 teleports if not your team is doing it wrong/poorly.
-
Tell me the critical hit to atheon with p&t maxed icebreaker does 10 or 11 k without perks (revenge time)
-
Well I'm terribly sorry that I prefer the benefits of the Ice Breaker, even though killing a boss could take me marginally more time, making little to no difference in the end. And besides, I can switch weapons which is faster than reloading and still deal considerable damage with my Scout while the Ice Breaker charges without me having to do anything. And funny thing, I kill Atheon in just as much time with my friends. Though the weak spot on Atheon can be a minor pain. I every so often run into a shot or two that apparently didn't hit the weak spot, but then shoot off to the side of him and it counts as a crit. I use Ice Breaker for nearly everything because it rips everything apart for me. The only time I don't is CQC in the Crucible.
-
The stability on P&T though. I couldnt imagine using a sniper with so little stability.
-
Having used so many different snipers in so many different games, I'm used to all sorts of stability levels. I'm still not perfect with it, but I'm used to the kick on the Ice Breaker, so it isn't a huge issue for me.
