(Edited) Absolute proof Iron Banner is complete bullsh*t!
I was making a new warlock and got through the 4th mission or so. I was level 4 with my friends who are all high level like my main. I decided to test Iron Banner because last night I really didn't see much of a difference playing with my lvl 30, it felt like regular crucible. So I joined up with my friends to play some Iron Banner. I was expecting to walk in and get one shotted with an ankle shot, instead I was baffled at what happened. Watch the video, and let me know what you think.

It would of been nice to have like 2 new maps, a new pvp mode exclusive to IB, Maybe a new ghost skin, Unique gear that doesnt look like the same level 20+armor. somehting that provides a truely unique incentive and not feel as im just playing the crucible with a poorly placed coat of paint.

If it makes you feel any better.. My level 29 maxed vanquisher does 32-34 damage. That's about 10 more damage than that guy. I'm killing faster than him

Your gear and level matters, so naturally, you would assume that he would not be able to even scratch them. He's doing typical damage for an Auto Rifle, and it's working. Regardless of how you look at it this is not at all what we were told by Bungie. A level 4 auto rifle should not be doing this well in the Banner, period.

1 ReplyThe issue i see... The level 1 gun does 19 white damage and 28/29 yellow damage regardless of target level. I watched another IB vid where the rare shengen did 24 yellow damage regardless of target level. This is a problem with the IB level restrictions. What is meant by "no level restrictions", when the entry level auto rifle does the same damage output as a level 18+ auto rifle? Is the OP a good player, yes. Are most of his shots to the head, yes. Should the level 1 gun be able to do the same damage to all level targets, no. Are a lot of us confused as to the intent of level advantages in the IB, yep and I do not see how it will come down to power is secondary to skill.

1 ReplyI don't play much Iron Banner, but I've been seen people posting these issues on the forum since Iron Banner started. Apparently it is common knowledge and same system was used in Iron Banner during beta. Something about lowest level gets a boost to be at the same level as the highest, in other words Iron Banner is just plain old crucible control. Same thing as the queen missions, you're unlocking gear and the only difference is the color and design.

I love playing this game competitively but the more bungie advertises and the more Deej talks the less I want to play. Destiny is already a big letdown with few redeeming factors. Tired of these stupid "events" that are not even real content. Iron banner is crucible control or at least feels like 99% crucible control with slight level tweaks. Not worth calling a special event. Don't be the Comcast of the video game industry Bungie.

1 ReplyWow, I gotta say it really didn't seem any different from regular crucible when I first tried Iron Banner, I've played it extensively and I stick with my original thoughts. This just backs it up. Regular crucible is fun and all, but I can play that anytime, and it's supposed to be an event so it's kind of like wtf.. OP has skill no doubt, but he should have been getting wrecked. Maybe if some info on how the "advantages" actually effected gameplay was given out, it would be comprehensible.

I see 2 things here. 1. You're outstanding at pvp. Kdr/skills are superior to 90% of the people playing this game. 2. It could be a code issue that bungie didn't hash out in beta. Yes it needs to be fixed. But I feel like a decent player and I got stomped in IB.

Players are complaining about everything else but there is no way to tell anything with a bad netcode. The main problem with the crucible is the netcode allowing too much lag and the high latency to be abused. It's open game for lag switches and/or anything that hogs the bandwith. The guy with the highest latency in the match has the upper hand before anything else, gear, level, class and skill. Bungie needs to fix the netcode before anything else and have the matchmaking based on same range ping values, anyone's ping spike during the match should be disconnected from the session.

My daughter rolled a Warlock and entered the Iron Banner at level 2. She went up against level 28's and didn't do horrible, plus she's never played Destiny lol!

thats a really good one everyone recalls the enemies with ??? that you couldnt kill thats what the iron banner should be like if a lv10 or lower is going up against a lv 25-30 like seriously or somewhere close to that wheres the SPECIAL EVENT if its only out for a week might as well let the STRONG players have the fun even the IB guy standing in front of the gong on fire says only strong guardians

I'm guessing this is miscomunication. A lot of people expected to romp stomp people lower then them. It didn't help that bungie was vague on the description of this. DeeJ will probably give the long explination of how stats work. Honestly i'm noticing a difference. My level 29 hunter can't insta kill with a throwing knife to the head on most titans unless their bar is below half. I also feel like i'm dying faster then normal because of my really low armor rating. (i invested my passives in agility and recovery.) If i had to guess the difference in IB is no more then 3-4 bullets. Which deff does matter especially when you use a single shot or pulse rifle. I don't think damage is directly messed with either. Just armor rating and level. Level's artifically effect damage output in PvE. So to an extent it does in PvP IB. Just not as drastically as it can get in PvE when you are shooting at things higher then you.
