(Edited) Absolute proof Iron Banner is complete bullsh*t!

I was making a new warlock and got through the 4th mission or so. I was level 4 with my friends who are all high level like my main. I decided to test Iron Banner because last night I really didn't see much of a difference playing with my lvl 30, it felt like regular crucible. So I joined up with my friends to play some Iron Banner. I was expecting to walk in and get one shotted with an ankle shot, instead I was baffled at what happened. Watch the video, and let me know what you think. Edit- Here is my second video as well, this was my third game and did even better than my first. http://youtu.be/h2rUdKnB_4M Check it out and let me know what you think! Also thanks Deej for replying at least, I was not expecting that. Although you did leave us with your usual vague wait till the update answer. Please don't just address it, please actually fix it! A big shout out to my fireteam, thanks for helping me make this video ClearVue, AssasiNinja187x, ojndeath1, DukeNukem786, and xxKunntryxx

    • Im not saying this to insult you, so please dont get offended, but honestly your video didn't prove anything to anyone watching it closely. You are not a bad player, but for ninety nine percent of the video you were amongst friendly high level opponents that were blasting away on the same target as you. Your bullets weren't doing a whole lot of damage as you were shooting the majority of a clip into dudes head and he didn't go down, but the others around you would wreck them. I dont know whether or not there is a big diffdrence in gear, the lowest level I played against was a 26 and there wasn't much, if any difference between us (I am lvl 28 with my legendary helm on). Please though, don't use something like that video to demand anything from bungie. Get some more concrete evidence, and if it is solid hell man, I'll scream at 'em right along side you.

Lol. The real confusion here is why people act surprised when every single piece of content Bungie releases is a white-wash of something else. Queen's Wrath? - Extra Crucible and Vanguard bounties (Neither of which are terribly entertaining, if I say so myself) - Reward: Shittest tier Legendary armor and Ascendant Shards for break- Oh, wait, they removed that. That's right, Queen's Wrath was utterly worthless. Almost forgot. Iron Banner? - Re-skinned Crucible, which OP has shown, has no significant game-play differences whatsoever. - Reward? Not even full armor sets. Chest and Gauntlets along with some marks and shaders with a machine gun. Sure, it's a decent amount, but it was severely disappointing. I really should get used to the notion that Bungie ultra-hypes everything, despite what it actually is. Combined Arms? - Literally just Bastion and First Light. There are no f**king differences whatsoever. - Reward? Go f**k yourself DLC's? - House of Wolves: A DLC that I agree with exisiting. I love the idea of not making all content available right away, ease the player into it and offer it later so you can really enjoy the experience. Do I love the idea of buying it for 20 f**king dollars? Does a virgin nun like getting fisted in the asshole? I'll let you decide, because that is how I feel about this whole shabang. - The Dark Below: Go f**k yourself reading the above sentence. - Whatever That Thing In Terminus Is: I'm just going to go ahead and make the logical assumption Bungie wants to rip 20 dollars out of my scrotum for yet another pre-made, developmentally cut fragment of the story. Why don't you just skip a step and insert 5 dollar micro-transactions with the Speaker? 5 dollars for every sentence that pertains to the story. Because, hilariously enough, if that were the case, I wouldn't have paid a single f**king dime throughout the entire "Story" mode, except for the very beginning intro. Verdict? Go f**k yourself

Excellent video I wonder what Bungie's answer will be? Iron Banner pfft I think they have released a game that had so so much potential but are now delivering pure shit. The story is gone and these quests like Queens wrath and iron banner are good for what? Some ugly ass gear that wont get you to lvl 30 and you can't even decrypt into shards anymore? Maybe Activision purposely killed destiny's story and game so everyone would still buy Advanced warfare in November... Peace.

        • I think it's really strange that Deej came to personally reply to this, but that he didn't bother to actually say anything. I think it's really strange that all of these negative posts are appearing on and tearing up Bungie's website and hard work, and that the response from Bungie seems to be silently sitting on its haunches. I know that there are a lot of people who post in these forums, and that Bungie has some sort of system of checks and balances that dictate what can and can't be said at any given time, but I honestly believe it would behoove Bungie to have a PR team that constantly keeps in contact with these forums in order to mitigate some of the damage that is being dealt to Bungie's reputation. Right now a proverbial firestorm is building over all of the mistakes and holes in this game. A lot of people are beginning to throw around words like "liars" and "thieves". There is no one to represent Bungie except for Deej, and he keeps making himself look like a -blam!-up by posting quotes from the deleted scenes of "The Forbidden Kingdom" without giving any information or feedback on the things that people are upset about. The only time he actually makes meaningful posts is the weekly update, and that is excessively infrequent for a game that has been out for so few weeks and is so riddled with problems and perceived problems that it makes a cheese grater look watertight. I think a group of Bungie staff members speaking directly to the community would be a justifiable and beneficial use of money, time, and energy. tldr; Bungie needs a group of PR reps to address angry people on their website and quell the fears and frustrations of players.

I'd like to see this video re-done with a full fire-team of friends all at <lvl5 going into the iron banner against a team of >lvl25. It's difficult to tell if the player is killing the opposition or one of his many friends who are also firing at the subject and happen to be lvl 29/30. I think the current video shows that the differences Bungie have implemented are too subtle. Maybe they should come out with a Steel Banner tournament in the future and really skew the level differences to what you see in PVE...

            • So here's what I got from the first video. Keep in mind, this is based off of the thoughts of a guy who only plays crucible when absolutely necessary. 1) you obviously know the good choke points and are very good at moving in and out of cover. 2) your team worked well together. You guys did a great job assisting each other. 3) you're obviously good at PvP. 4) Your lvl 4 did only a few less damage per shot to high level players with a white weapon than my lvl 28 does with (almost maxed) shadow price. Last night, the last two games I played in the crucible I had a K/D of 2 and then 2.5. The first few games were much worse. It took me some time to figure out that most people just rush an area and hope to kill via brute force. Once I learned to step back and wait for teammates, and then give myself some room to operate, I did much better. It seems like regardless of crucible mode (including iron banner), working as a team and playing smart are more important than weapons. I would have liked to see a bigger difference in damage, truth be told. It's hard to see a lvl 4 take on a lvl 28 with no discernible disadvantage.

            • I just played a game and I couldn't get anyone's shield down and I'm level 27/28 depending on gear! Did they try fix it but -blam!- it up? I was also getting warlock punched to death from about a mile away so it could have been lag. I was shooting everyone dead on in the head and no damage was coming from my upgraded legendary/exotic weapons.

              • Ok, so most of your kills were against people with the following problems. * Already on Low Health * Airborne * Side On * From Behind * Engaged by your Team Mates With a decent team, where you are able to hold a choke point like that i'm not surprised. Most of your kills were against Lemmings.

              • Bungie are just too proud to accept that that they are completely out of ideas. They sent out a game they hyped to have a great story to satisfy us for 10 years and forgot to put the story in it or to change the place holder names for everything. They also seem to have forgotten how to make pvp, but have no problem with making and sending out a 'new' pvp mode before actually making the first. So now we have to two shit pvp modes rather than one good one.

I got a question and i hope someone can answer it. At rank 3 you can buy an armor piece at the Iron Banner "store" for 10 points. Does anyone know if u can take it apart and recieve shards?

                  • "Power matters, and so does skill" hmm well a lvl 1 assault rifle shouldn't be taking out 29 lvl guardians in a half of clip or less. That lvl 4 guardian should see the 29 lvl guardian and see a question mark and yellow bar. BUNGIE should make the iron banner like strikes. Players are matched against skill sets based on lvl and the weapons and armor should matter. I want a iron banner not crucible with a iron banner sticker slapped over top of it.

                    • There were times I'm your first video it took you half a mag to kill someone with all headshots, if the level of your gun didn't matter you would have killed them much faster but because it's a level 1 gun the damage was minimal. Just because you are a level 4 doesn't mean you can't do damage to level 28+ because then iron banner couldn't be enjoyed by everyone. They made it to where there is a slight advantage based on armor and weapon strength but not to the point where a lower level 20 still couldn't do well.

(EDIT) !!!!!!!!!!!!TO THE OP OF THIS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Can you please post a video of you playing iron banner just like these others BUT with your lvl 30, best armor. Best guns. Seeing as it will be from the same person with the same play style and gameplay attributes, lets see the difference. (ORIGINAL) Alright. Lemme get this straight. 1 - In crucible my silvered caracas fully leveled takes two body shots to kill. Every time. 2 - In Iron Banner, on a highly upgraded armor opponent takes three. 3 - In crucible my red death can drop someone in two bursts to the head if all the shots land. 4 - In Iron Banner against lower leveled opponents I can pretty much one burst. Two bursts, sometimes three against higher levels. So wheres the bullshit? How were you lied to? They said the best armor and the best weapons will be crucial. From what I can tell in Iron Banner either highly upgraded will make you kill faster and last longer, exactly what they said it would do. I have no idea what you guys were expecting? "Im level 30 so i should be able to take rockets to the head and make this guy explode when I finger-flick his nipple." If you have highly upgraded gear you have an apparent advantage in Iron Banner, although its slight you still have the advantage. Isnt that the whole point? Could you imagine what you whiners would be crying about if it was balanced the other way? all one shots? or unloading entire clips to break someones shield? Wake up. So what it comes down to is who can out-aim, out-shoot, out-think and out-maneuver his opponents to make a kill. And well to me, thats competitive gameplay.

                          • I would just like to point a few things out. First, the Attack Power has no effect on the weapons ability to cause damage. This is only important in PVE. Your weapons Impact is what actually effects the amount of damage you cause. -The Attack power represents your ability to damage certain leveled opponents in PVE. You take the attack power divided by 10 and that is the level of enemy which you can do full damage to based on the Impact rating. (Example: an AR w/ 224 will do full damage to a lvl 22 opponent but will suffer a slight penalty against a lvl 23) Second, Everyone has the same amount of Health (base). In IB your Armor stat gives additional health which must be depleted also. Lower levels will have less armor equipped which leads to them dying faster than others in a direct fight 1 on 1. Third, In your videos (yes i watched both) rarely are you taking on an opponent directly 1 on 1, most of the time the other players are not shooting at you or are using a Hand Cannon or Scout Rifle (and missing a lot) so its hard to compare between damage output based on level. But when you are in direct 1 on 1 you get wrecked. Finally, I am not a fanboy or anything like that for Destiny. I am in fact, deeply disappointed in the game. What we got as an end product is in no way, shape, or form of what was originally presented to us or which was awarded so highly. (But that's a whole other topic) I can, however, see an alternate side to the IB. Sure it sucks for all those people who spent the time acquiring the best gear. But in absence of having a dedicated lobby for certain leveled/ ranked players, being a low level character like 4 or 6 and trying to partake in the event with level 20+ players and not being able to get cause damage would have been more of a nightmare than what Bungie did deliver us. For everyone to be able to compete in the event is what I think Bungie were trying to do. Do I think that they severely miscommunicated the actual setup for the event? Absolutely. Do they need to fix it? Absolutely. Instead of making it like PVE where player 4 levels above you are immune to damage, there needs to be a tier system where when you join a game you are matched with other like level players. Only then will Iron Banner actually work the way it was advertised.

                            • Okay, I figured it out. Damage in Iron Banner is determined by Impact, not by Attack rating. You're "Best Gear" doesn't mean shit, damage upgrades mean nothing, it's all about what weapon has the highest base stats.
