I've read more than a few times than Gunnery Sgt. Edward Buck was invited to the Spartan-IV Program. However I can't find a good source. Do you know anything about this?

Yes, he is a SPARTAN-IV. Source is the Halo 5 Guardians Beta trailer. He's the one saying the lines. Frankie confirmed it was him when he announced that a second character was revealed on E3 2014 along with the Arbiter.
