WHY ARE THESE TOOLBAGS RUNNING THROUGH MAPS?

Since when has this been the cool thing to do? About a week ago is when it started getting annoying... I have to deal with at least one guy running ahead and leaving every single enemy alive and well behind him. They dont save any time by doing this, they make it more challenging to clear that part of the map, and besides saving what ammo they have (assuming enemies dont drop any for them) i cant find a good reason for doing this. Id love to see something to prevent people from doing this or at least add "runner" to the player report. Way too many "unhelpful" players without counting these toolbags that run through the map. How about you follow us through instead of stopping to clear every nonessential enemy in the area?

    • I agree! If I have a bounty to kill 500 stupid people in not trying to run through a strike. Then they force us through to the next section. It is annoying and rude to people who might be trying to actually do the strike and bounties

    • Sorry but this part and parcel of any kind of mmo raid Etc. You only waste time killing what is required. Trash mobs are not require to complete so it's best to move past.

    • Well since they decreased the droprates from mobs Ill run past every time. If they increased it, different story.

      • If you don't skip trash mobs and get to the point then you are the assbag holding things up. Not the other way around. People don't do strikes to take their time driving Mrs daisy for 20 minutes. We want to get things done. Go dig in Ur garden on patrol.

        • Each strike is 1. Fight waves 2. Fight mini boss 3. Fight boss. Basically... everything else is useless yardtrash

          • It annoyed me until I saw how much time it saved. Run to darkness event, blast it, run to boss, blast it, done. Miss out on possible engrams? Maybe. Can grind that out on my own time tho.

My policy, at this point, is to shoot ahead if the other 2 do also. I understand why people do so as it is tough to get in 25 strikes. But the few times I get to fight the waves, I manage to get some blue engrams, which are useful for upgrading the cryptarch. What is bugging me are folks who abandon strikes. Mind you: your ghost does say at some point in the story, "if you want to get in the middle of this, it's up to you." That is the 1st clue these skirmishes are optional.

            • They actually DO save time by skipping the non-essential part of a map, assuming you are talking about the non-instanced part of a mission/strike. When you are vastly overpowered compared to the trash mobs in the region, unless you need to kill them in hopes of getting ammo reloads before advancing or are working on specific bounties to kill certain mob types, speed runs of missions/strikes will generally net you more runs in a play session. For people playing with limited amounts of time each day, it is crucial to get the most bang for your buck, so hammering out a bunch in quick succession will net you more, potentially, than if you sat and farmed all the mobs slowly and only got a couple of runs in. Don't mistake this as a defense for whether this practice is good/bad, it is what works for them. I've done it a few times when I had a small window of time to play, and have had a few times I was forced to do it or be left in the dust due to my fireteam doing it. I think the problem with random fireteams and this issue specific is the inability to communicate with them directly, short of creating a Party chat. If you were able to talk with your teammates and thus better understand their driving factors for why they are doing what they are, you may not be so quick to write everyone off as toolbags for running ahead because they only have 1 hr to play the game that day while you can play for 5-6 hours at your leisure. The converse of this issue are the freeloaders, those who sit at the spawn area of a strike and do not advance, while the other two advance, and get rewarded when they beat it. Honestly, I'd be more upset with a freeloader than someone who was willing to push the engagement, as long as the person pushing was doing so intelligently and for good reason. I'll take a random runner over a random freeloader, because at least the one is trying to contribute to the team, even if it may not be in a manner you prefer.

            • This is the result of awarding on completion people wanna rush through. It's pretty standard, and in some cases:reasonable. Though, I think it's the wrong thing on valus taruc Mars strike.

            • It's called the instant gratification syndrome. Wanna run ahead like a hero? Go ahead, have fun waiting at the boss. All enemies have a chance to drop nice loot, so no, they are not trash mobs.

              • Most people are trying to get through as quick as possible, which is understandable. If you'd like to take your time dealing with every enemy you should probably continue doing patrol missions. At any rate, if choose to chase every enemy that's up to you, but if your team is pushing ahead you are being just as "unhelpful" for them. I like to push up, I'll take must of the enemies out along the way-but if someone is spending 5 - 10 minutes on enemies outside the path of the mission.. well don't blame people for leaving you.

              • Actually this can be helpful in getting the mission done quicker. Just go to the parts you need to do. Also as advice for getting a mission done quicker one mission in particular comes to mind. The archon priest, zip past all the vex go to the first vex at the boss section, die, and you'll spawn your team there after the darkness consumes you. It's very helpful.

It's common practice in a lot of mmos. Those enemies don't need to be killed. It saves a lot of time and ammo Actually I'm more upset when people fall to behind because they keep wasting time on trash. I think I need a dilly - dally player report

                • There are several strikes/missions where there is no point in killing enemies early on. I use my sparrow and sprint until I get to a point where the enemies are lvld. Even in some of those I've run past a few lvld enemies.

                • I have no problem with skipping the areas open to other players. They just re spawn and don't even get the level boost for the actual mission. Waste of time, my friend.

                  • Here is my thoughts. If you are talking about missions or strikes! I have only moved past the areas that are not required for the mission i,e the darkness which isn't unreasonable. If I missed your post completely then sorry. But I haven't had this problem

                  • You don't have to engage the enemy to progress. If I want to ge through a strike quicker, I will run pass enemies I don't have to fight. Because of my level and weapons, I don't have to fight every enemy to get to my goal.
