WHY ARE THESE TOOLBAGS RUNNING THROUGH MAPS?

Since when has this been the cool thing to do? About a week ago is when it started getting annoying... I have to deal with at least one guy running ahead and leaving every single enemy alive and well behind him. They dont save any time by doing this, they make it more challenging to clear that part of the map, and besides saving what ammo they have (assuming enemies dont drop any for them) i cant find a good reason for doing this. Id love to see something to prevent people from doing this or at least add "runner" to the player report. Way too many "unhelpful" players without counting these toolbags that run through the map. • Sounds like you need to get some friends to play with. I see both sides. And if people take too long sometimes I'll hit the response zone then die so it jumps everyone up to the check point. It'd take a year to do an exotic bounty otherwise.

  • Good post. This is the reason we need a party finder. Speed runs are going to happen. You want a speed run party. You post for one. You want a slow, kill'em all party you post for it. You want to explore the strike or raid area, before the final kill. You post for it. We need a place in the game to do this. The tower would be perfect. Right next to the bounty board there are a bunch of boxes. Clear out the boxes, give us a party board. We all want to do different things. Keep the mapmaking, expand it. It's needed. The party finder will let like minded players group up. IN THE GAME. I have had players run past some of the mobs on a strike. I hold back and kill them. Then catch up. If they continue? So what. You do have to be carful, a player mentioned that some mobs re spawn fast. Know when to run.

  • Don't play Warframe. Coptering is a Tenno tradition.

  • I started being a runner after the 5th or sixth run I did. But if I see a teammate or two can't get past the enemies, I turn around and attack from the enemy rear then meet up with them. I can understand some people wanting to do it, but if you're a runner and don't plan on helping you're team mates at all, you should form a fire team of people just like you.

  • i think if your trying to speed through strikes you should do them by yourself. you basically are anyways, makes no sense to force other players trying to do the whole strike to deal with selfish, inpatient players willingly skipping parts. i do strikes multiple times daily as well bc im not a big fan of the crucible but im not going to skip kills because i want to save five seconds. the people that blow through select, relative mobs, on every single strike while they are in a fireteam with other people and dont talk on mic should not be playing matchmaking. if your trying to finish something by yourself then by all means exploit all you want, i have absolutely no problem with that. But if your with two other high level guardians you dont need to stay on the cliffs to snipe the nexus and any enemies that just so happen to stroll in your line of sight. Some play styles are not compatible in coop without coming off like a scumbag. case in point: runners.

    • I make a bee-line for the begining of every strike. I'll speed past the level 6-8 mobs on my way in to the Devils' Lair. But the morons who try to go striaght for ther first boss drive me up a wall. If the whole group isn't together, all that happens is that the mobs inside the strike are all on high alert and are shooting before I get close. Now, I have to start dodging grenades and gunfire and either have to try to solo whatever is in front of me or risk dying repeatedly on my way through the instance until I catch up. That crap is annoying as all hell. People who don't want to work as a team shouldn't be allowed in the game.

    • And any ways if you do miss a engram that the other player got for you it will show up at the tower

Welcome to the Campaign Speed Run. During Halo Reach you would have on average 201 players playing Campaign Matchmaking. The object was to basically keep ahead of everyone else while killing everything so they can't. You reap the cR XP grind while they wasted their time. Bungie for some dumb reason based Destiny's Strikes entirely on Speed Run Mentality instead of Firefight, which on average had about 7,000 players whoring it up with fusion cannons. Or Limited FireFight that always had about 1300 players who wanted a challenge of any sort as a team based PVE experience. The only thing going in your favor is the final boss can't be head shotted by the first guy who gets there. So enjoy the douchbaggery it's not going anywhere and it will only get worse.

    • Well, when running on vanguard tiger playlist, my ultimate goal is the end-of-strike rewards. Granted you can play the RNG and snag drops from the mobs along the way, but there are sections of each strike i will drive straight through in the interest of faster completion. Although i will stop and look at what the other two guardians in my striketeam are doing. If theyre both wading through all the mobs and im the only one flying throug, then ill stop and rejoin. If at least one of the other guys wants to cruise through also, then ill keep going. With as much damage as bosses can soak up and as long as some of the strikes can take, killing every mob along the way can be time consuming. Mars comes to mind as one of the longer ones in which i usually try to run pass many areas.

To whoever I've been annoying by doing this, if I HAVE indeed done this; I apologize. I've reasoned it so that we should get to the "point" of the strike as fast as we can - as I've figured the lower level enemies don't pose any challenge, real benefit or entertainment to us and that killing everything we come across would only waste the time of the group, when we can obviously all do it with our own time, separately, whenever we want. Or with friends in PATROL instead of strike. And I've personally done all those strikes and missions so many times, that they're already kinda "boring" - and if I only have a bounty, to go and kill the last boss, I'd like to hurry up to the "meat" of that strike - if that's ok with everyone else :/ It's definately not that I want to be annoying or definately haven't considered it being "unhelpful" or a bad sport. Though to be fair, I've usually been the SECOND guy of the group, with the first guy of the group running so fast he doesn't even have time to notice if engrams drop.. But.. just one question; If there are runners, do you run aswell? Are you pressured to go faster? As if you are just going along with their pace, they have no way to even realize you'd like to take it slower. Just saying... I'm willing to wait if someone has something to do, but so far I haven't noticed anyone slowing down :P

    • I'm not a fan of this myself since I'm one of those people who get left behind. I'm not saying it's wrong per se, but if you're gonna pull that stunt, find a way to communicate it so that others who are trying to play the strikes fully will comprehend.

    • These are the same people who complain about not getting any decent engrams, they miss the chance of many by trying to fly to the end for one. I get matched with these douches all the time.

      • I dont agree with level hopping but if its at the start where you have to run through the patrol areas then its fine. These areas are on respawn timers and so you can't kill everything

      • There are pro and cons to doing that, but I'd prefer they run through to rather than just go afk. Most strikes you can't run through all the way anyway.

        • Because some areas of a mission are on permanent respawn. Take this weeks, Weekly Heroic Mission. The Land Tank entrance has permanently respawning Cabal, wave after wave of them. You can't ever clear them all. You have to fight through them and get inside. Which is the same as running through them and getting to save your amo for when you're really going to need it.

        • When it's maybe your 5th time doing that 1 strike in a day the last thing you want to do is to stand around shooting at non-essential enemies. You just want to get your objective over and done with and move on to the next thing.

If they're good I mop up behind them and let them do their thing. If they beat it well, free loot for me. If not, I'll catch up and do my part. Some of these guys are really, really good! I'm not hoing to hold them back if they don't mind leaving me behind, there's plenty of killing for me to do.

          • When you say they're running through a map, are you on the same Fireteam? If so, that's a little rude by them but perhaps they've seen that same level or Strike possibly 20 times already and are speed-running it. If you're out on Patrol...well then others are free to do as they please, though I'm sure that's not the case. Typically, I go through a mission with a Fireteam at the pace we set each other. If someone is lagging behind, then I typically slow the pace a little until everyone catches up.

            • I really don't care but I do this. It is enough we do these missions everyday about 5 times each or more but to wait on someone who wants to stay around and kill every single trash mob that is NOT required to win, no thanks, I have spent enough hours doing the missions over and over and wouldn't like to spend any more.

How about you follow us through instead of stopping to clear every nonessential enemy in the area?
