Destiny is a [b][i][u]FREE TO PLAY[/u][/i][/b] mmo. So there's really two options here.
[u]Option #1[/u]: Pay a monthly subscription (of around $15) to play the game.
[u]Option #2[/u]: Fork out cash for each new bit of content as it is released.
Guild Wars pretty much does this so I don't know why you're all so shocked.
