In my opinion it's too soon to say, it sounds like they're listening to complaints a little too much when it comes to the crucible.
I myself have used scout rifles and auto rifles, and only up close will the scout rifle typically lose to an auto rifle though I have won some of those types of encounters, but scout rifles definitely have the longer range advantage. So based off of how these weapons are supposed to work, I think they do fulfill their purposes.
What do you guys think? I think for the most part, they need to give that more thought and focus on the disconnecting issues. It's not like there are weapons out there that hand you high k/d's with minimal effort. Headshots are still an incentive in pvp.

I don't see it as much of a problem since most encounters tend to take place at short to medium range. Only on maps like Bastion and the one on the moon, I can see it making a difference. The other maps are smaller and therefore so is the range of encounters.
