Are Titans the weakest in the Crucible, or am I just worse than I think?

I've tried Crucible over and over. My friends tell me it's fun, and that you have to get use to it, but they're playing as Warlocks and Hunters. I'm constantly being wrecked by players, that are mostly Hunters and Warlocks. Even thinking about it, I don't really see that many Titans in the Crucible. The Titan abilities seem to only really work in defense, even the Striker Subclass. Is any other Titan just getting destroyed out there? I'm good at games like Halo and Battlefield, and I'll admit, I'm not great at Crucible, but this is out of control! Does anyone feel the same? Are Titans a weaker PvP class?

  • Titan is my fav in pvp because of titan smash and shoulder charge.

  • You need crucible amour and weapons. Use last word, red death, thorn, multitool or hawkmoom if you have em

  • I'd say use your titan in Control the most. Fist of Havoc can shut down other players capturing Zones and a Bubble can ensure your team captures the zone they are after

get yourself a pair of Mk. 44s or Peregrine Greaves (RNGeezus blessed me with the latter both this week and last week), put on your MIDA, spec for agility and put on transfusion, then start shoulder charging the piss out of everything. a good shotgun will take care of the ones you miss, too. shoulder charge is some of the most fun i've had in the crucible ever, and the Mk. 44s extend the time you have to use it while sprinting while the Peregrine Greaves make it so that hits from the air (a quick hop before you hit the melee button) do 3x damage -- that's enough to take out bladedancers, radiant skin sunsingers, and AoL defenders. shoulder charge in crucible is so much fun. it should be noted that i'm not one who plays for a massive k/d ratio, if i manage to take out one guy before i go down i'm happy.

      • Yep. Titan's armor does little to nothing to provide a real advantage in the crucible, thus it has to be made up for with the firepower of crutch weapons. like The Last Word. When I played as a Titan in the Crucible, to do even the least bit of good I had to use an exotic handcannon. Now I'm a gunslinger Hunter which can "fly" faster than a Titan or a Warolck. My hunter's PvP loadout is Suros, Vestian Dynasty and a legendary rocket launcher (which in my opinion is a little better than Golden Gun becouse of the extra splash damage). The Dynasty is a good weapon to pull out if the other dude gets too close while you're reloading your primary but I found that it's not really op contrary to popular belief. Suros can do lots of damage from a fairly long distance, but you have to chain headshots which I can't always do. Sure it can heal you but you have to use the bottom half of the mag and even then it's not guarunteed unlike Red Death. No matter what weapons you choose, you should do a little better with the gunsliger hunter class, and you choose Path Unknown for better armor. Like I said, the only downside to it really is you might have a hard time aiming the Golden Gun when other supers can easily wreck you while using it.

      • In my opinion the Titan often requires advanced use of its abilities and tactics to get the most out of it. A Titan can turn the tide of battle when its supers are used strategically (especially the Ward of Dawn) and grenades used effectively. The Titan's grenades are great for locking down areas or forcing opponents to move away from an area. It is this ability to dictate the movement of your opponent that makes the Titan a powerhouse in Control.

      • I love my Titan, but you're right, it doesn't feel like he's suited for PvP. Sometimes a well placed bubble can turn the tide of the game, but sometimes it just feels like super-bait. That being said, I still main a Titan in PvP and that's who I went to Mercury with. The super bait can be helpful in Trials, and a high armor stat means I don't burn to death from 2 thorn shots.

      • Titans (Strikers) have the best super int he game - especially if you get the Eternal Warrior helmet. I can not tell you how many times I have used my arc blade, hit a Titan only to have him panic smash me into oblivion. It is stupid. Panic Smash is the the TNT in Rock, Paper, Scissors: it beats EVERYTHING.

      • i think titans have the best grenades for PvP. The lighting grenades are probably the best, and most annoying. The bubble is mainly just support, so i would use striker, if i ever ran titan in pvp. The fist of panic is called that because it is primarily used on one player. the smash can wreck bubbles, and is probably the best for control, where there is a great chance of groups on the zones. Also, i cannot escape the fist of panic. I jump as high as i can away, and still got killed by it. One last thing: shoulder charge. It's a one-hit melee after you sprint for a little bit. Sprinting into a wall and then going around a corner into someone is a good way to use it. My friend went positive (i forget the ecact stats) with just shoulder charge. Other than that, my advice is to play on the character you are most comfortable with. I am most comfortable with a hunter, my friend is with a titan, we both do good. Consider trying out the other classes, see if you like the feel better. Good luck!

      • Titans are decent if you can play them. While most people on the forums would recommend you run shoulder charge; I'd recommend helm of inmost light and unkillable, as to avoid dying mid super. When the super is off, feel free to switch off to shoulder charge once more.

      • Titans have the worst supers for pvp. Fist of havok is incredibly overrated because everyone whines and hates getting hit my it. But if you run around searching for any groups of 2 or more to use it on you are going to die a lot. It's better to settle for the "fist of panic" than wait an entire game hoping to get lucky that a group of enemies is standing too close to each other. I'm really good at pvp and have played all classes. Hunters and warlocks present a much better opportunity for success than Titans do.

      • Hey man, try playing a hunter. Invisibility is the only special out of the 3 classes where you can't just hit a button and there it goes. You have to crouch for an unsaid amount of time and hope you don't get hit or it doesn't work, or you have to me lee someone and even then you're luckily if the shit even works against npc's. I've been invisible for over 3 seconds and things around me still shoot me. The Titan is a 1 hit kill for melee. You would think the hunter blade dancer specializing in melee would get one hit but nope it's the Titan.. You have a ground smash that is unstoppable.. I've been shot and meleed out of blade dancer . You can throw up a bubble.. It goes on. Sorry man but the Titan class I think , is the most OP.

Titans aren't OP but you can do well if you play smart. For Striker Titans: Flashbang grenades work well in small rooms, setup kills, and over all hit n runs. Very fun to use. Pulse grenades are good for area denial and to control opponents movement. Lighting grenades are great for setup kills and direct kills. I primarily use lightning grenades. For Fist of Havoc, choose whatever your good with. I go with the wave since I can get more kills that way but I do use aftershock once in awhile, especially in control. Helm of Inmost Light with the wave perk on is an awesome combo and aftershock is also good since you can deny an area and sometimes opponents just stand on the aftershock trying to get a control point only to die. For melee aspect, it honestly doesn't matter for a striker titan but i use discharge since usually if I'm that close there are multiple opponents and I can at least get their health down for my teammates. When I don't have my super, I use shoulder charge. When I do have it, switch to unstoppable for the moment so you can finish your FoH. Also, spec for more regen than armor. In crucible, getting back your health lost is important especially if your in cover against multiple opponents. Strafe in and out of cover, kill an opponent, stay in cover, regen health, strafe in and out again, and kill the other guy. Also, go max intelligence and discipline. Strength is useless on Striker Titan in crucible since if you are trying to melee, shoulder charge is better. For the armor you want to go with Armamentarium, Helm of Inmost Light, or Peregrine Greaves (new exotic). Armamentarium will give a huge boost to your discipline and allow you to carry more heavy and special ammo however it's exotic perk allows you to carry an extra grenade (doesn't matter which kind). This is great since you can heave grenades at one choke point to stop an enemy so that you can take care of the one trying to flank you. Helm of Inmost Light allows you to superman into enemies but with an added bonus of Aftershock or Wave. Great for when enemies pile up on a control point since not only can you kill most of the enemies but the stragglers and the people who got away from the initial impact have a nice surprise waiting for them. Last is Peregrine Greaves. Now I don't have this exotic but a person that I was on a fireteam with had it setup and he was demolishing people. Shoulder charge is already good but with the greaves, as long as you connect, the opponent is dead. Warlock with radiance? Dead. Bladehunter? Dead. Titan in bubble? Dead. Doesn't matter these greaves are monsters. That said, you still have shoulder charges weakness and 9 times out of 10, if someone sees you coming and they have a shotgun, you will most likely be dead. I honestly don't know about ACD/0 Feedback Fence since I don't have that nor have I seen anybody with it so your guess is as good as mine. Hopefully this helps man. I was crap in crucible before and my K/D and K+A/D were abysmal. After watching others play who had good end scores during a match, I was finally able to get better scores myself. Just got to be patient and not be afraid to retreat if all else fails. Anything over 1.0 K/D is great since you were helping the team succeed. Getting 20 - 25 kills is cool but when you have 30 deaths, it's not all rainbows and butterflies EDIT: Finally at work, haha. Added armor stuff

          • The only difference between a titan and a warlock/Hunter are the abilities + specials + double jump. Do you kill more with abilities + supers than guns? You shouldn't. The variability is very minor. Titan's special is regarded as one of the most annoying because it is essentially unstoppable. I've played against really good titans and really bad ones...but mostly, it all comes down to guns.

          • The supers aren't always that good. You cant just pop your super and expect to get 3-5 kills. But if you time it well you can deny supers, get multikills and capture/clear critical points. The shoulder charge is amazing for turning around corners, running away and winning mid air, close rane combats ( Thanks to the auto aim :D ). But I think that Hunters are amazing for Rumble and close combat engagements in my opinion. (Thanks to the blink)

              • Titans require skill to be good. They got the short end of the stick and really have to work at it to be good in crucible. Unless the other team is a bunch of idiots who bunch together alot. Bungie gave almost everything to the warlocks in this game. Followed by hunters, and then titans. Warlocks are so -blam!-ing OP in crucible (and in general) that they can be as agile and mobile as a hunters, and are better tanks than titans. They even have the fist of havoc in a ranged bundle. Oh and they can revive themselves. Something that doesn't belong in crucible. Especially not in something like trials of Osiris when their whole team is dead and the match is already considered done. Thats just -blam!-ing cheap. Back to my main point though, titans need a buff. Or at least some tweaking. Or warlocks need a nerf. Titans should be the tanks, hunters should be the "ninjas" (for lack of a better term), and warlocks the wizards and inquisitors of the game. And the sad part is half of you idiots playing this game are call of duty players or halo players who want the game to resemble cod or halo. And this makes for a volitale mixture of players that don't realize how -blam!-ed up this game is. It is getting unbearable in crucible because everyone is using the mythoclast, thorn, hawkmoon, or felwinters lie. Something that could easily be countered with a buff to autorifles. Remove self res from crucible, and the mytho.

                • I recently made a warlock and it is so much better than the Titan in pvp. Warlock can have the same armour as a max armour Titan, and their melee has a ridiculous range. FoH has no advantage over Nova bomb, radiance has got me several 5 kill streaks. The sunsingers firebolt grenades automtically shoot people, they have the same sticky grenades, but their throw is more straight so it is easier to hit people running straight at you. And dont get me started on warlock melee, it is ridiculous, and then to top it off, it gives you an overshield in the middle of a punch foght, in case superior range that locks on isnt good enough. The titan melee is by far the worst in the game, and shoulder charge isnt even that OP, its so easy to step back, shotgun them, or sticky grenade them when they charge you, I say this as I dont get killed by shoulder charge when I play my warlock.
