Ah yes, the Hand Cannons. The experience of seeing your rounds pierce the cranium of your alien oppressors that only they can provide. Whose wielders tower over the filthy Scout, Pulse, and Auto Rifle plebians.
Come, my brethren, gather in this place and share your knowledge, tales, and advice to your fellow Marksmen.
I offer my own small piece of input: Acquiring Chain of Woe (exclusive to the mighty Hunter Mustard Rice (a topic for another day)), armor which increases Hand Cannon reload times, and a Hand Cannon itself that sports a 'melee hits reduce the reload time of this weapon' upgrade will result in all whom you come across fleeing back to the Darkness from whence they came.

Edited by Kvothe007: 10/7/2014 8:02:33 PMAh, my people! The glamorously noble Hand Cannon Mustard Rice. I stopped back by to share this poem I've been working on: Rata tat tat, your auto rifle goes. Rate of fire, reload speed "My enemies lie in rows!" "Masters" of the Crucible, You so brazenly declare, Fists high in triumph, "All my enemies beware!" Yet something has you troubled "What's that powerful ringing noise?" It's The Devil You Know With a friendly "Hello!" Enjoy the loading screen, boys ;)

I have been blessed by the Destiny base gods with a plethora of exotics, including, but not limited to, Hard Light, Bad Juju, Thorn, and Suros Regime. I have also found my fair share of some very good legendary guns of different sorts. But, of all my guns, The Devil You Know (Vanguard hand cannon) is by far the most efficient when it comes to annihilating all who stand in my way. 12 rounds, increased stability every hit you land, explosive rounds, one random bullet does more damage, and a reload speed that'll have the empty cartridges hitting the ground before your panties do, all make this gun perfect for any situation at all. I have mine fully upgraded, and it does anywhere from 1200-2000 damage per critical hit, depending on the enemy. Anyone looking for something worth of spending your hard-earned Vanguard marks on, look no further. The only guns I can imagine winning my heart over this guy, are The Last Word and Hawkmoon. (C'mon, Destiny base gods, I know you hear my prayers!)

I like to call us the Callahan's Lets see who gets that reference without googling it.

Thorn is good after upgrades but the Hawkmoon is my shit. The thing I love about handcannons the most is that if you slowly pull the trigger, or even start partway, you can see the chamber rotating and the hammer going back. And you can abort the shot halfway through. Nice job art team!

"Fast is fine, Accuracy is final. The trick is to shoot slow in a hurry."

Suros Regime Master Race reporting in.

I've been using a fully upgraded rare Regulator mk 55 as I still haven't gotten a legendary or exotic. I'm worried though that the 'better' tier weapons won't be as good. My rare has an 11 round clip and the highest impact I've ever seen, higher than the exotics and legendaries I've looked at on the interwebs. For PvP at least, I'm worried they won't be better than my rare. Please tell me otherwise.

I got Thorn yesterday. I love thr sights, the sound, the look. It has a great rate of fire but you need to control the recoil and be accurate. Its not bad I dont see why people complained it is week. When its buffed I bet its a god gun.

Using the devil you know... Fully upgraded, in combination with the invisible hand m7 (fire shotgun) and the Gjallarhorn (exotic launcher) so far it's proven to be an effective and extremely deadly combo. On Warlock by the way.

Edited by ShekaRayRay: 10/2/2014 2:53:38 PMI love my hand cannons! On a mission for at least a legendary one!

It's funny. In the beta, hand cannons just felt weak compared to everything else. Now that I have the full game I'm hesitant to switch to anything other than the hand cannon. The huge impact on them means "BLAM, headshot! BLAM, headshot! BLAM, headshot! BLAM, headshot!" and a big pile of dead Fallen. They're deadly accurate and they don't restrict your awareness of your surroundings as much as other guns because of zoom. Then to see there are Legendaries that allow the radar to stay active while zoomed? Mustard rice indeed...

I am leveling up my 2nd Character, a Sunsinger. Using Hand Cannon/Sniper Rifle combo exclusively. It is an interesting way to play. Makes me wish Scout Rifles were secondary weapons though. The Sniper rifle can be a bit unwieldy in hectic fights.
-
Both my warlock and titan have their very own Hawkmoon equipped. They love it. :)
-
Hawkmoon FTW!

Everybody knows the ladies can't say no a big hand cannon. Ask your mum, she knows what I'm talking about.
-
Just hit 10k kills today with my cannon in PvE... No reward for that though. In pvp I use explosive devil, and accurate lord high fixer
-
i got a blue lvl 20 Regulator MK.56 with explosive rounds and 11 round clip with awesome impact. love it. use it for everything at the moment.
-
Whats better, The Last Word or The Devil You Know? I just got The Last Word today but have been enjoying The Devil You Know, which is my first legendary engram that actually was a legendary. You know during the days when it was something to be praised that your legendary was actually legendary lol
-
I refuse to use anything that isnt a hand cannon as my primary. Somehow I just suck if I use auto rifles in pvp, but with a hand cannon its a totally different story. Also hand cannon vs vex = massacre xD
-
Ha! Hand cannon master race, that was good

Edited by MinorThreat: 10/2/2014 6:12:34 AMGot the thorn. Don't like it too much. Slow reload too much kick and small mag. Now as if right now my fav hand cannon is the vanguard hand cannon. 12 rounds, quick reload, awesome range, low kick easy to aim. Using gun slinger with it almost feels like you're cheating. Super stable and reload is crazy fast. Helps to have armor that gives more hand cannon ammo
-
Anyone else been blessed with the Last Word? Do you jizz every time you see that hammer fanning animation???
-
My Hawkmoon! It's the greatest weapon ever created.
-
Flared magwell. Fast reload on empty mag. Chain of woe. Was your mag even empty?
-
I am coming around to them. I got the Thorn last week and last night I got The Devil You Know. They both are kicking some serious ass in PVE. The first match I used the Thorn in PVP, I went 24 and 9 and I hate the PVP. I don't have Chain of Woe, being a Defender Titan and all, but I do have Force Barrier specced for "weapons ready and reload blindingly fast". It helps ;)
