  • Actually, it's just smart business. Right now, the hype train along with marketing, are in full effect for Destiny. Advanced Warfare is probably the most interesting Call of Duty since Modern Warfare, and it looks gorgeous, so it should do fine, but why not stack the odds in their favor?

  • They already have the odds in there favor just for having COD on it (or so I thought)... cod as been 1 of the top selling games for years despite making lil changes to it. Why all of a sudden they need marketing help from a new title to get more pre orders.

  • The reality is, no one knows, outside of Activision. It could very well be that after the lackluster COD: Ghosts, Activision really wants to make sure they put up bigger numbers for what is essentially a new CoD IP. It could also just as likely be that this is the first time they've had two BIG IPs that fall roughly within the same genre (sci-fi FPS) releasing within months of each other and they decided to capitalize on the momentum they've built with one by funneling potential fans into the one that drops later. This is a very, very low cost way to tap into a market they have already spent a lot of money building by leveraging it into their other big expensive IP (that by many accounts ACTUALLY looks pretty stellar this time around). It's probably both, but in my opinion (having worked in marketing and retail before), I'm willing to bet it's far more of the latter, and only a little of the former.
