But was it functional like xbox? I know ps2 had online but not everybody knew plus the games that were out then few had online capabilities. Xbox was gunning toward online from the start, ps2 wasn't as big until ps3. So I say they got online late because online gaming wasn't big or fully known when ps2 tried.

Playstation 2 biggest online game was ever quest, and there was ton of people playing it, i'll agree that xbox had the online use straight away when it launched, but that was after ps2 was online. Also ps3 was free online play at all times, but if you subscribed to playstation plus you got 18 games a year for free. Playstation plus is also 10 dollars cheaper then xbox live. So all in all i would think that Sony treated their player base much nicer the Microsoft ever did. Albeit some of the features that the xbox 1 has are pretty nice, it just does not stand up to the PS4

Edited by iMoonchildi: 8/20/2014 6:33:54 PMps2 had no where near as many as they would have if they had more online games. Ps3 was free but xbox still had more people, with ps3 with free online comes less security. Plus xbox had both the casual community and the professional gaming community where as playstation just had casual. Ps4 I guess has better features but like I said its about the community Xbox1 has comp and casual, 360 does too. I'm not trying to rag on playstation at all btw.
