Where do Spartans keep supplies like ammunition, food, and other gear they'd need for missions? I can understand a few tiny slots for data chips or other little things, but there are clearly no ammo pouches on their armor. A huge part of modern kit is arranging gear efficiently and being able to store what you need; Spartans don't carry bags, so they'd presumably need to store their gear on their armor, but it's never seen. I know it's kind of an irrelevant question, but with Halo moving more towards hard sci-fi, it's hard to ignore the deus ex machina that is MJOLNIR.

  • Backpacks, normally. They aren't in the games, but they are frequently mentioned in the books.

  • Where in the books? The games are the highest form of canon outside of actual 343i writers and the only time kit is seen is in Reach, and even then it's very sparing.

  • Yes. Official Bungie/343 books Games Comics Anime References to backpacks are made repeatedly throughout the books - there is no outright 'Spartans carry rucksacks', but instead sentences like 'john picked up a handful of spare magazines and put them in his pack'.

  • As Lucario said, there's magnetic hard points on the armor. They aren't shown on their for... a more clean approach.

  • The armor contains magnetic strips on the back and thighs for holding guns, grenades, etc. Halo Reach explored it more by putting pouches, extra armor, etc.

  • That's the assumption, but it makes zero sense to store magazines in those places. Reach was great in how it expanded on Mjolnir, but it's basically never mentioned outside of that game.

  • Take a look at some of the armor from Reach. It's got all sorts of pouches. As for the rest, I don't really know (and it bothers me that the knife in Halo 4 assassinations just kind of appears), but I'd assume that it's probably magnetically locked onto the armor, like their weapons
