Ah, I see. I always assumed that that was a plot point left by Bungie to imply that humans came from Forerunners (which would explain their favouritism over the Prophets).

That's what it was originally for. To reveal that Forerunners and humans were one and the same.
-
So then it's not really foreshadowing, no?
-
Nope. It is.
-
But if it wasn't intentional it's just a coincidence.

Well, with the retcon the quote has taken on a new meaning. One supported by Halo 4's Prologue.
-
What retcon?
-
The retcon of Forerunners not being human.
-
No, I meant "when did 343 retcon the whole 'Humans being forerunners' thing?"
-
It was actually Bungie who did that in the very game that was supposed to officially reveal that humans were Forerunners.

"You are Forerunner! That is, unless you read the Terminals, then you'd realize you aren't."

I was never really sure if it was Bungie or 343 that made humans and forerunners seperate, and the Halo 3 PT I did this weekend didn't help... Guessing there was some serious lack of communication in the story department.

It was Bungie.

Jesus. Halo 3 is just a mess, ain't it?
