Tomb Raider a timed console exclusive for Xbox? WTF? The Halo 5 multiplayer beta is being designed to be a competitive experience? WHAT? The Halo 5 multiplayer beta will contain SEVEN MAPS? WHAAA...holy shit. As to the people who are complaining about a lack of loadouts, I find it interesting that Bonnie said the Multiplayer beta will showcase "one of the multiplayer experiences we're thinking about". Halo has always been a game that has appealed to different audiences and groups with very different preferences. The problem is that often their interests are mutually exclusive, and design decisions to appeal to one group, inherently hurt the appeal of the game from the perspective of opposing groups. They've sometimes tried to counter act this, by creating custom game types for different groups, but the problem tends to be that maps are designed based on the core design mechanics, and they're often trying to force the new mechanics to feel like a classic experience just before, or more times than not just after the full game launches, without much flexibility. I suspect they're essentially creating two or three separate multiplayer experiences, each custom tailored to appeal to a more specific audience. Competitive in pursuit of; balance. consistency, map control, and predictability in largely arena designed maps. Non competitive in pursuit of: frantic action, chaos, and accessibility in largely medium sized non arena maps. Finally large scale combat with large fire fights, vehicle warfare, etc. I'm sure custom options will exist, that will allow people to kind of custom tailor these to their liking, and you'll be allowed to mix and match play styles, somewhat, although I suspect it won't always be too easy. Playing Midship with Halo 4 (non competitive) gameplay for example, isn't likely to work very well, because of all the confined space. I actually suspect that Halo 5 will have the largest number of maps available at launch ever, in order to really give each niche it's due.
