What are the benefits of clans in game? Are there clan rewards or competitions? Is there a clan base? Why should my friends join my clan?

Instant Friends list. There are no rewards, but it could be better in future Destiny games. I want a Warframe type clan in Destiny. Destiny > Warframe, so with an epic clan system...:)
