A lot of people are complaining about PvE

I'm starting to think that all the complaints about PvE's superficial brevity and monotony are unwarranted: Halo gave us a decade of discrete, linear Campaigns, but was there ever any complaining about those? Maybe from the open-world lovers or multiplayer-only 'enthusiasts', but the enormous majority of fans had no qualms, and I can't think of any fans I know personally who were annoyed with Halo's Campaign structure. Destiny has far more to offer the non-competitive player than Halo ever did, at least on the conventional side of things: on top of Story missions, we have Strikes, Raid(s?) and Public Events, as well as generally dicking about in Explore. There may be more stuff that we don't know about yet. Hopefully. So why the complaining? I understand the feature set, as far as we know, is drastically reduced, excluding Theatre, a map editor and, an omission bordering on the criminal, Custom Games, but how many Campaign players used those? I'm not saying we should forgive those omissions because of the amount of activities in PvE, but people are focusing a lot of their anger on PvE, which is more feature rich than any of the Halo games. So what's the deal?

  • Who is to say that they won't add theater, custom games, and Forge in later? Complaining about multiple planets and areas to explore and traverse doesn't seem like a bad deal in the least. Plus, numerous random events, missions, and the like keep it entertaining.
