wouldnt make sense as the darkness's main goal is the traveler why bypass us at earth and work towards the sun. i could understand if we heavily relied on solar power but we don't the traveler granted us whatever we needed until it's dying breath. and more than likely it looks like this darkness isnt impevious cuz if they had the power to dismantle the sun and give us complete darkness where many of our enemies thrive we'd be dead already no?

maybe when hunting the traveller they entered our solar system on the opposite side of the sun, and when passing it to get to the traveller they maybe tried to destroy it with nukes or something but failed and just kept going for the traveller

nice idea and all but it seems a little off maybe in future. but from what i understand bungie is creating this game with Hope being the mindset. that you can make a difference. we arent so far from the sun that solar flares and etc don't affect us hell they affect us here even in the modern world as healthy as the sun is today adding nukes to soemthing that is essentially a giant fusion reactor. seems more suicidal than anything. from what i gather it seems like the darkness and by affiliation want to steal the traveler not so much destroy it. The fallen are a race of scavengers/pirates with some order of houses/clans nobility. The vex are a mysterious machine race that dont communicate and are extremely hostile. The cabal are a militant group almost affiliated to mercs in the way they carry themselves in codexes. Hive seem like the only true evil faction but even then they seem to be more interested in stealing the traveler and it's light for their own purposes rather than eradicating it. seems to me the ltraveler is running and empowering us to protect so as not to be used for the wrong reasons.

I actually really enjoyed reading that just now, thumbs up bud, all's I'm saying is it would be a fun new element for bungie to experiment with instead of the standard thunderstorm/ dust storm/ snow storm.
