Thoughts on domestic violence
There is no excuse for domestic violence
Really? Who else here in the flood thinks this? Now I have never in my life hit a girl, but I feel like there could be some situations where it is acceptable. For instance, I get extremely frustrated when I'm am accused of cheating. I have many faults but being unfaithful is not one of them, and I think being wrongly accused of that deserves a smack. Now I'm not saying haul off and try to crush her head, but let her know you're serious. So are there any situations where the flood would deem domestic violence acceptable?

    • Domestic violence isn't a husband hitting his wife. Its violence in the home. It can be a husband hitting his wife, it can as easily be a wife beating her husband. It can be siblings hitting each other, or parents abusing kids, or kids abusing parents. There isn't such a simple minded conservative answer like hurr durr itz teh menz htiing teh wominzz. Its violence in the home. And women abusing their husbands and boyfriends is one of the fastest growing trends. That and elder abuse. Maybe you should learn more about a subject before you use preteen white male angst to stir up more preteen white male angst in your little neo-national socialist boys club.

Nope. You don't hit your girlfriend/wife. Ever. If you're flipping out or have anger problems hit a pillow until you get the anger out. It's the same thing and that way you won't feel like killing yourself afterwards because you lost your mind and punched the shit out of your girlfriend/wife. The point is getting the anger out, you'll find it doesn't matter what you hit. Trust me, I have temper problems and it helps a lot. It also shows the person you're arguing with you've snapped and they'll leave you alone.

            • Unacceptable just keep your calm and let her know through body language even if she hits you just walk away. The only time it's ok to hit a woman is when she is physically threatening lives

You might want to reword that if you didn't intend it to sound like you are unfaithful. Oh, and Never. If you hit your wife/partner then you should be smacked in the face by Mike Tyson.

                            • Only acceptable in self defence, and then its not really domestic violence. And yeah, stop slapping people over such things OP.

You should tell them off (if they're wrong), but smacking? Really? You shouldn't get physical over words and accusations, that's just stupid. I believe you should only get physical in self-defense.

You're faithful enough to not cheat on them, but you don't like them enough to resist the urge to smack them for being worried.

                              • It is NEVER ok to hit your partner. I was in a abusive relationship a few years back that escalated quickly. He however punched me first but after the 5th 6th and 7th time i realized he wasnt gonna stop so i did defend myself. Like a previous poster had said, it just creates emotional and psychological trauma. Oh did i mention that he become violent after i found out he was cheating and smoking pot? I never accused him, but still got hit. Guilty conscience can drive a person do crazy things. Better get yourself under control. You sound insecure, immature and like you need to get out of the dating scene to do some self analyzing. In your defense, she has emotional issues as well if she is accusing you and you are TRULY innocent. Was she cheated on b4? Maybe you did or said something that triggered her past hurts? Verbal abuse(calling each other names, demeaning, etc) is a sure fire way to lower a girls self esteem. Maybe she feels crappy about herself cuz a jerk has told her she is replaceable? Now she takes it out on you?? Two broken people will never work...gotta fix yourself not fix the other person. Healthy relationships are built on healthy people. Gotta deal with heart rooted issues in life from past hurts from family, friends, partners and experiences in life.
I'm an addictions counselor...not a therapist lol
