Hi, thanks for such a helpful topic! Here's my question... Or... Questions... I know some of the different species names in the game (hive, fallen, etc.) but are there more than those? I'm assuming yes. I thought I remember seeing species that weren't in the beta yet in e3 trailers. I don't know if you'd count the Awoken as a different species, since they are human, right? Am I wrong there? Additionally, I'm sort of confused on how to distinguish one from the other. I think the Hive are creatures who seem to be born from the darkness, and the fallen saw our solar system sort of collapse and try to take the opportunity to scavenge it for resources? Also, do you have any details about them? Like if they have any alliances or enemies among them? Thanks for the help! :)

 •
I know some of the different species names in the game (hive, fallen, etc.) but are there more than those?
Destiny 1 will feature Hive, an ancient undead royalty, Vex, organic robots that seem to come from the future in pursuit of something unknown, Cabal, a Legion of hulking beasts in search of more land, Fallen, four armed pirates desperately clinging to whatever nobility they used to have, and Darkness. Darkness is the ancient enemy of the traveler returning. Most of the game will be spent with no sight of the darkness, but there is an achievement:

Dragon Slayer: Defeat a Champion of the Darkness

This is all we know, and of course Gaurdians in PVP
I thought I remember seeing species that weren't in the beta yet in e3 trailers. Am I wrong there?
The 5 + Gaurdians are the only species known in Destiny, expect more in the sequels. The Awoken are refered to as a race, similar to Humans, Exo, and Tigermen (not playable race). The original Awoken formed when they fled during the Collapse and were forever changed. For more on Awoken look down at my "The Reef" post in quotations
Additionally, I'm sort of confused on how to distinguish one from the other.
The artistic side makes them quite easy to tell apart (fat bulldozer versus flesh peeling zombie). I assume you mean backstory wise from your example? Look farther above in this post for that, and character wise won't be that hard once the game hits.
Also, do you have any details about them? Like if they have any alliances or enemies among them?
They all hate each other. Each species has a dominate planet, but they two or three species mix all the time (Fallen-Earth, Vex-Venus, Hive-Moon, Cabal-Mars). I could detail stuff, but nothing inherently important to anything that you won't learn 2 seconds into a fight with one.
