People leaveing Crucible games to pad stats

Just to clarify this post is simply my thoughts on dealing with people that ditch games after a few kills, nothing more: I am probably just getting a string of bad luck with this but its starting to become ridiculous. Out of 16 crucible matches I've played today 6 have had people leave within the first minute, one of which left because they didn't get a vehicle on moon, 3 after they had gotten a few kills and a cap, and two after they had their vehicle blown up. Now I can understand people leaving when some fail to load in and the match starts out uneven, being one man down can be annoying, being 2 down and your pretty much screwed, but only 1/16 of my games started with one side having more and everyone stayed anyway. The 6 games I speak of were full groups when we started on both sides. At first I didn't think much of it until I found myself in a 3vs6 situation with my teammates afking the rest of the match. I figured I would leave and just take the hit to my K/D ratio for not finishing the game instead of being cannon fodder for the pack that was running around. When I left however I found that my K/D ratio was awarded as if I had played the entire match and I even had all the achieves from it as well. I'm sure that there is a penalty in place for constant deserters, however, I think people are using this loophole of getting these stats recorded for matches they leave to pad. This is most evident on Moon map, since the vehicles are op as hell and if your not an idiot its easy to rack up 5+ kills if you come out the victor of the usual vehicle war at the start. For those of us that enjoy solo queuing or don't have a full group of buddies to run with in Crucible the fact that there is no way to stop people from screwing us over for the sake of their stats is very disheartening. The easiest way to deal with this in my opinion is also the logical one though, if you don't play the game, you don't get credit. Give us a deserter counter so everyone can see how many times someone has skipped out on a game that activates once that person has one kill/assist/ anything pertaining to the match (this is to cut out people who drop during loading) and do not award any stats they have received for it to their overall scores. Everyone Dcs, that's a given, but giving a public way of keeping track of stuff like this will show the difference between the people who simply lost their connection every once in a while and those that do it constantly. I do realize this means a lost score here and there for those who pvp often but even if you only did 10 games a week it wouldn't hurt you a lot to have a dropped game omitted every once in a while, while those who bounce around to pad their stats will have lost all the advantages of doing so along with showing everyone publicly that they are game hoppers. A majority of these people want everyone to think their amazing when their not, so turn the tables on them. Personally I would rather play with someone that had a K/D 1 and only deserted 2/50 games compared to someone with a K/D of 3 and a desertion counter of 25/50.

  • I do like the idea of penalty marks, to show desertion. They had something like that in WoW battlegrounds. Not sure if they still do now. It was a good idea though. I know one way people do get around this though. Disconnections do happen to everyone but some people do just imitate that by pulling the cable out the back of the console...^^ So unless there is some kind of smart tech, that can detect that. I think it would have to be a firm hand with disconnections too.

This is like the biggest problem, not to mention easiest way, to improve K/Dr in any game that records stats. So why does everyone put so much importance on K/D when it is so easily manipulated? I'll be surprised if Bungie does something about it besides making our quit ratio a centerpiece stat and putting it in big, bold numbers. Not only should there be penalties for constant quitting but also an option to avoid such players.

      • Bungie could make it impossible for them to join a new PvP game while the old one is still in progress like League of Legends.
