Old Schoolers Unite!

Okay, I used to be really into "Halo: Combat Evolved" in 2001! Played that game forever with my friends and it always held a little nostalgia in my heart when it comes to Bungie. Then "Halo 2" came out... Multiplier was flawless. Seriously, that game is still unmatched in my opinion. Damage Ratios were so balanced and it seemed like you were able to relax and still be on the edge of you seat the entire game! Since then, I really didn't get into Bungie games like I used to. I mean, they were good. But, I think my everyday life changed and maybe the gaming styles in the industry changed. Anyway, I've been a very causal gamer since about 2004. I'll play and talk about Video Games with my younger Cousins and Brother every now and again. But, I can tell their experiences are totally abstract to mine. It's kinda funny how I'm looked at as a "Old Schooler" compared to them. While playing Halo 4 with them and talking more about games, they brought up "Destiny" in the conversation! Showed me some videos, told me more about the vision for the game... I felt that nostalgia again! That good old Bungie nostalgia! I'm just as excited for the release/beta of this game as they are! Hopefully other people experience the same feeling I'm having. Because, I really do hope that Gamers of all generations will be able to close the gap in gaming styles. I'd like to hear the rest of the community. What do you guys think? Also, What do you think a "Old Schooler" technically is? It seems video games change so fast that it makes new generations happen every other year!

  • Been on the Bungie wagon since '02, found the website in '06, and joined the following year. I can say, the roller coaster of emotions I have experienced (mainly just hype) thanks to Bungie will forever be in memory. LANing up xbox to play with friends and family has brought such joy, even local co op, finding glitches and breaking the campaign by our own means would be fun for hours on end (Assault on control room glitch, cancelling out all eneimies after the first bridge was an awesome find after a falling off the bridge respawn incident). What I have to say abut Halo 4, pretty much makes me a broken record player, it got boring quite fast, campaign was not as... "rich" as Bungie's Halos. Multiplayer, I wouldn't classify as an arena shooter or even somewhat oldschoolish like Halo 1-3 kinda was. Loadouts really put me off and before I ramble on more, it lost me. After Halo 4 I learnt I was a Bungie fan, not just Halo (I can also say, Marathon was rad, definitely way ahead of its time). Destiny looks to out a halt to my enjoyment of local Bungie MP, but with key family and friends getting the same console as I and bought tickets the Hype Train (AIN'T NO BRAKES) that is Destiny, this will certainly restore some absent gaming fun that I've missed for a bit now (few games cut it). Done.
