I prefer quotes that look like this. Surely there's a simple script to do this?
One obvious reason for the removal of the original quoting format might be that more data is being stored. Aesthetics versus Memory.
Potatoes.
Bland. Who said that?
Posted by: Bungie Sam
Potatoes.
Informative. Apparently Bungie Sam said that.
Of course, quotes can be forged.
For example
(The following quote was forged. Achronos did not actually say this):
Posted by: Achronos
Something, something and so on. Hello! Potatoes!
That can be done with the current quotes anyway, but users are not involved so perhaps the forced anonymity of the quotes is safer.
Something, something and so on. Hello! Potatoes!
EDIT:
If you provide a permalink, one can check if the quote is genuine;

I really need to learn how to interact with websites programmatically.
Right now I can only grab data from websites through a Windows form app that utilizes a browser.
Edited by waltzz22: 7/13/2014 6:52:16 PMI am not a programmer but Fire Fox browser gives a metric ton of info at the click of a button. Sometimes I can lift non click-able images using it.

I preferred this too. I like the idea of forgery proof headers, but I'll miss the shenanigans that went with it. I also miss the time of edit at the bottom of posts.

inb4 quote pyramids

I know this doesn't have anything to do with the OP, but anyone else from the old days remember the
bars that would screw with post and signature sizes? T'was fun!
-
That'd be fun to figure out how to do. How would you want the functionality exactly? Sorta like the old site where if you want to quote someone else you reply, quote them, copy the quote, and move it to wherever you want to post it?
-
I miss the old gold quote format.
-
I just miss using them as a HR >.>
-
I sure do miss quote pyramids.
-
I like the older quotes. If your in a situation where you're questioning the integrity of the quote, you can always either scroll up and check or ask for a link.

inb4 Achronos actually posts that.
