Are the precursors really extinct? I know The Primordial stated that he was the last of his kind, but knowing the facts that the precursors could travel to different galaxy's is it possible that they could have escaped and may return?

The Primordial clarified, that he was the last of [i]this[/i] kind. And yes, it is entirely possible they're still alive. In fact, the Primordial said some fled beyond the Forerunner's reach.
