[b]UPDATE![/b] Bungie has stated in their weekly update that the Ghost (Peter Dinklage) dialogue has already been updated for the Beta, and will be updated again for the finished build. Hopefully Bungie is also considering changing the Crucible announcer's voice. We will have to wait and find out for ourselves, all in good time... Now that the thread has been up for a while, I've come to a conclusion about the voices: Peter Dinklage's voice for the Alpha was pretty good, but it didn't sound like a robot and didn't have much personality. Hopefully in the Beta or finished game there will be some more editing to make it sound more authentic. I think most of us can say that the Crucible announcer is pretty weak. Hopefully this is just a placeholder voice. They should try find one that brings the same excitement as the Halo announcer, but that is new and fresh in it's own way. Most of you might not know, but the Crucible announcer is the guy with the white mask in the tower. The Voice or the Speaker of the Traveller I believe? ____________________________________ I've been watching a lot of Alpha footage over the past few days, and I've heard a lot of the same voice acting over and over again. As much as I want the voice acting to be great, it was really just generic. I'm hoping that most of it were place holders, because most of it sounds rough and unfinished. It's almost boring in a way and unimpressive, I could not get immersed by the voice acting at all. Don't get me wrong, I think Peter Dinklage is great! His voice acting on the other hand failed to immerse me into Destiny. His voice would be fine as a background character, but as a main character it is somewhat frustrating to me. I'm really hoping that there will be memorable characters in Destiny like there were in Halo, but so far I don't feel attached to any of these characters. [u]FUN FACT:[/u] My [b]grandma[/b] who lives in New Jersey, is good friends with Peter Dinklage's mom! I know it sounds crazy, but it's true! Also in the Crucible, the commentator's voice sounds almost weak and puny compared to Halo's announcer. Destiny's multiplayer looks good, but it doesn't look fun like Halo is. Just the fact that there will be no split screen is taking half of the fun away right there. I'm really hoping that Bungie will be able to make Destiny's multiplayer fun, while still making it an intense arena shooter. I think the voices have good potential, but it needs to be better if they want to make memorable characters. Halo is a great example of how can Bungie make great characters, and I have my fingers crossed that they will be able to do it again.   • This topic drives me nuts. Bungie stated it was a first take for Peter Dinklage's voice. Why would they lie? Listen to the E3 presentation and viola!!! Notice a difference? If not you are a moron.

      • Peter Dinklage does a great job, the voice if the ghost is supposed to be some kind of AI so not robotic but no real personality since it's a machine.

          • I think the idea for the robotic voice on the ghost is cool an all but i think for the game its a little outdated. For example you have guardians that are a type of robot- i cant remember what they're called i want to say awoken but i know thats not correct- and have plenty of emotion, while the ghost is a more simple robot i thought it would be more than ok to allow him small bits of emotion at least, otherwise it just sounds kind of cheesy coming from an actor that is as good as Peter. For the PvP announcer i do agree its a little boring and kinda cool at the same time, but the amount he talks makes it worse. Maybe just because in Control there is a lot of switching of power and bases being taken you constantly have to hear his voice makes it start to seem dull and bored. I agree the Halo multiplayer voice was better in some ways, but the white masked guys voice is really perfect for when he explains lore and things like that.

          • I think the problem is that Peter Dinklage was trying/told to go for a more robotic voice. The issue now it seems is that he came across as sounding bored rather than... well, robotic.

            • When it comes to the Ghost, it's not so much the voice acting that bothered me, but the script. As for the Crucible announcer, the voice acting definitely needs work. Hopefully they're just placeholders like everyone is saying.

              • It lacks any emotion, it can't be the voice for release. It's close to mono tone and I have no idea how this person received a job as a voice actor for such a important part on this game.

                    • I think they got the voice acting down really well. Ghosts calm and collective tone works well to keep the tension and surprise that lurks around the corner in tact. The crucible announcer is quite original and unlike most multiplayer shooters about. I think it sets the objective of killing other guardians very well.

                      I thought it was weird hearing the voice of Quarian Admiral Shala'Raan give me missions and man a store in town. I wonder who else is in this game.

                        Voice announce in the competitive pvp mode is shockingly bad I honestly thought it was a piss take the first time I heard it, sounds like someone who is bored and couldn't be bothered saying the lines no sense of excitement in the voice at all completely takes away from the game

                        Dinklage's lines need to be better delivered. I'm not sure it was Dinklage holding back. He was probably told to by some hungover sound engineer from Bungie who didn't want to hear any loud noises. The ghost is your guide and mentor. He's your link to the world. He should ramp up tension and act as your foil. He shouldn't be whispering stuff like "It needs to be killed", when you know it damn well it needs to be killed because it's icy claws are trying to rip your face off. Cmon, Pete, throw me a bone.
