The concept of Neural Physics is extremely alien, even to the Forerunners. Remember that the Precursors reached the theoretical ceiling for technological advancement. There's no where else for them to go in terms of technology. My interpretation is that the Precursors use Neural Physics thought-stuffs to bind their constructs and architecture together, effectively making them invincible unless a way is found to break the neural bonds.

 •
There's no where else for them to go in terms of technology.
...Technological advancement doesn't even remotely work like that. They must be alien if they've decided they can't get any more advanced and halted any and all projects they were working on.

 • I don't think you're understanding. The Forerunners did not have the ability to theorize or think of what was beyond what the Precursors had achieved. As a result, they declared that the Precursors had reached a theoretical technological ceiling. Basically, the Precursors knew everything according to Forerunner understanding and foresight.
