Are the prophets crazy in the head? Or are they suicidal for wanting to the activate the rings.

Not at all. Covenant interpretations of Forerunner texts lead them to believe that activating the Halo Array would send them on the Great Journey to god-hood. This is obviously a gross misinterpretation. Towards the end of the human-Covenant War, the Prophet of Truth began to change up the story in order to justify to his followers why they needed to travel to the Ark. He states in Halo 3 that the Halos are actually dangerous. "I opened the portal to this hallowed place, this shelter from Halo's fire, in the hopes that more of our Covenant would join us." -Gameplay, The Ark, Halo 3 However, this has perhaps always been true to some extent as the Elite guards aboard the Truth and Reconciliation implied Halo to be a weapon. "Whoever controls Halo controls the fate of the Universe." -Cutscene, Truth and Reconciliation, Halo CE

  • So they used to believe in it being a symbol of salvation, but the prophet of truth eventually saw it as an opportunity to gain more followers so he can control the universe? If I interpreted that correctly , that's some deep stuff
