Troy Baker on gaming cynics.

At roughly the 25:10 mark of this video:
'It should've been out in October!' And you're like, 'Well, you know, the difference between October and when it came out... you can live life and be okay.' And then it comes out, and people are still gonna eviscerate it, and say 'Well, it didn't live up to expectations!' Shut up! ...It's amazing: any game that comes out is amazing, it is ones and zeroes that are translated into Jesus particles, it's amazing, it's incredible what we're doing. 'The graphics aren't that great!' Shut up!
I think a large number of you lot (not us, don't lump me in with the bitter old hacks) could learn a thing or two from Mr. Joel-Delsin DeWitt.

 • I've always hated the nitpicking of excellent games. I signed onto this site to defend Halo 2 against its legion of haters. Bioshock Infinite is not the game I'd most like to make my stand on--both because it seemed to have less trite haters than a lot of other excellent games and because I was somewhat disappointed with the game--but it'll do and thank you for making this topic. What bugs me is when all criticism (much of which is valid) turns into banal Twitter-style hate. There are guys who say "I dumped 200 hours into Skyrim and it sucked." If you dumped 200 hours into it then the game didn't suck, you're trying to express some disapproval with something the game did and you are failing to do so with any accuracy. Games that suck are the ones you drop an hour or two in or have to force yourself to beat. Say a game sucks when it is actually a poorly made game. Say a game didn't live up to expectations when it didn't live up to expectations. Say a game had some big flaws when it had some big flaws. Say a game was tremendous when it was tremendous. But due to the composition of internet gamerdom--cynical nerds--pretty much everything that has a flaw or two gets eviscerated by some howling pack somewhere who despite its high collective mental power manages to be about as verbally/textually adroit as a bunch of riled up grade schoolers.
