So America, I'm noticing a lot more shootings lately,

Don't you think it's time to give up arms? Seriously, this is beyond a joke. Tighter laws and strict policy are needed to stop psychos killing innocent people. That argument of, 'Oh yeah.. the only way to kill people is with guns .. blah' - Well, it's true there are other ways to kill people. However, a gun being the most deadliest, lethal and easiest way to kill needs to be regulated alot more. I actually think its so scary that anyone can go to shop, and buy a gun. Sure, they'll do background checks, documents, so forth.. but from what I gather it's just darn to easy. I know there is alot of gun threads and debates going around but Americans need to seriously think when is enough.. enough? I'm so sick of hearing mentally ill people killing others out of suffering. It needs to stop. Sure these people, could still 'Kill people' by means.. Knifes? sure to the unexpecting eye.. but others around will have a chance to run.. or people could be trained in self defence. Your chances of surviving are alot higher then if someones pulling a trigger. In my country, I have a friend who owns a few rifles. He has to keep them in a vault at all times when not being used. Police tract his house, so incase of firing shots in the area.. police are sent to investigate his house. Countless background checks, and legitimate reasons for owning a weapon. I'm from Australia, and really.. no one has guns here. It's quite underground and it's frowned upon.

Maybe it's only being noticed because the American media decided to sensationalize it more. Maybe would-be killers are motivated by the idea of having their name up in lights and on the news, getting constant coverage and never being forgotten. I still advocate a societal change on our views of mental health as well. You wouldn't be stigmatized as someone with "problems" if you went to a doctor, so why do we always get a strange vibe when people have to go talk to a therapist? Makes no sense. It just makes it harder for people to get help. It's not like gun laws have been getting any less strict. Maybe the problem lies elsewhere. (Though I would advocate more thorough background checks and mental health certification for gun owners.) Trying to put in gun control laws in America is like trying to herd cats. You can put it on paper, but the fact of the matter is that there are too many weapons out there to be able to lock them all down. At that point, criminals have the upper hand because they could easily just break the law and have a gun anyway.
