The First Reasonable Gun Control Law in Recent Years

I'm very pro-gun and also very pro-this. It seems to me that this would at the very least do something to curb the issue with angry little betas getting fed up and committing murder, while also not restricting the rights of responsible, sane gun owners. It's a shame it took the one of most anti-fun states to push this idea out. I wouldn't mind seeing things like this go into effect in my own state. Also, since we're on the topic of fun control, I think every state should allow concealed carry, but open carry should be discouraged. It only serves to scare people and you'll be the first target in the event of an actual shooting.

  • This is too logical for 'murica. I'm sure they'll find a way to stop it.

  • That is actually not a bad idea, but I want to read the whole law first just to see if there are any catches.

    • Open carry works wonders to hinder crime. Who robs a store when half of the people around are openly in possession of a firearm?

        • So instead of taking pre-preemptive measures by introducing this decades earlier, we're just now going to do this? *facedesks*

        • Anyone else think half of the school shootings are because media blows them out of proportion focusing on the shooter way to much most of these seem like the kid grew up watching broadcasts of them and got the idea of how to get their 5mins of fame

        • Maybe we should pass a law where people who are upset can get amnesty and help.

          • I'm "Pro-gun", but I will say I drive a lot of my buddies who claim "Pro-gun" crazy, because I'm really moderate in actuality. We need to put more restrictions in place to buy guns. Psychological tests, as well as a more organized system of gun safekeeping. It should be mandatory to have a gun safe that only the owner of the weapon(s) has access to. Not under lock and key, since that's -blam!-ing useless, but I digress. My biggest concern is the idiotic use, lack of education, and lack of safety and safekeeping shown by the majority of gun owners. To that point, I think it's obvious that we need to be funding more education on gun safety, safekeeping, and use as an additional requirement to being able to purchase. I agree that concealed carry should be allowed more freely, but I'm not sure that open carry should be discouraged.
It's still not that easy, let's say you have depression but you got over it by going to therapy and shit like that.
A psychologist could be able to ascertain whether or not you are fit for gun ownership. It's that simple. Go to therapy, get over your shit, get your guns back.
Same thing imply's for veterans with PTSD
Yes, it should apply to veterans with PTSD. This coming from a veteran, with many friends who have PTSD. Don't worry, they get all pissy when I tell them they shouldn't own guns, too. They still understand my point, though. Some dudes get a little too far lost to be holding a gun in their hand /2cents... also inb4 "2nd amendment supporters" lose their shit.

It's still not that easy, let's say you have depression but you got over it by going to therapy and shit like that. >Try to get gun >"Lol you had depression" >No guns for you Same thing imply's for veterans with PTSD, yeah you went to therapy to get over it, yeah you finally copied with the past , yeah your perfectly normal now but still no guns4u Also what a guy on /k/ said about the welfare part
It's in the grey area of, you haven't done anything wrong, but someone (your family/coworkers/friends) has told them that you're acting crazy or suicidal or you haven't responded to calls or shown up to work in a while, so the police pay you a visit and talk to you. You can just tell them to -blam!- off in most cases if they don't see anything really wrong when they show up, but they generally conduct the whole thing so earnestly and diplomatically that people don't feel the need to. It's actually kind of a public service thing they do, in that it's useful. It's part of how they find out about old people who died weeks ago and no one noticed, for example, or lonely people who hanged themselves. But yeah, making it so it becomes a gun check would be -blam!-ed up/
Also it's one way to get killed on someones doorsetep

            • There is so much room for potential abuse wit this feel-good law it is laughable. How do you objectively qualify a person to be mentally unstable after a phone call to police? For those of you poor bastards who have the misfortune to live in Commifornia, you have my sympathy.

              • I've said it before and i'll say it again; to buy a gun i think you need to pass a background check and a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. But if you pass both of those, and go through a mandatory gun safety class, then you should be able to own effectively any firearm you want
